Unveiling Destiny 2's Game-Changing Deep Dive Feature: Prepare to be Amazed!

Destiny 2's newest Deep Dive feature is a game-changer, revolutionizing the chaotic experience This recent change brings much-needed manageability to the activity, making it easier to navigate and conquer Dive in and embrace the transformation!

Highlights

In Destiny 2, players can now join in-progress Deep Dive activities through matchmaking, making it easier to find teammates for the activity.

The new matchmaking feature is particularly useful for players who have yet to finish Deep Dives, particularly in the current and future Seasons. Deep Dives can often become chaotic due to differing individual objectives and conflicting motives. However, with matchmaking, players can reliably find assistance and successfully complete the activity.

Starting from the weekly reset on July 25th, players in Destiny 2 can now join ongoing Deep Dive activities through matchmaking, rather than only being able to join a new instance. This new feature will not only benefit players in the current Season, but also in future Seasons after Season of The Deep. It will make it much easier for players who still want or need to complete Deep Dives to find teammates. This change is particularly helpful because some players tend to leave before the activity ends, which puts the remaining players at a disadvantage if they are understaffed. Since Deep Dives in Destiny 2 are associated with various quests and challenges, players don't necessarily have to complete the entire activity to receive the rewards they desire. Additionally, some players may intentionally abandon their teammates during pressure trials in order to restart failed challenges.

Season of the Deep has Proven to Be a Divisive Period for Destiny 2

: Overcoming Pressure Trials in the Deep Dive Activity

Players used to avoid the Deep Dive activity due to the challenging pressure trials it entailed, until the arrival of the groundbreaking Wicked Implement exotic Scout rifle. These pressure trials progressively increase the difficulty and rewards with each consecutive challenge completed. However, if a challenge is failed, the rewards earned up to that point are locked in and further pressure trial challenges for that attempt are disabled. This failure or missed opportunity to start the next challenge results in forfeiting potential rewards, often causing teammates to lose interest.

Regardless of the number of pressure trials completed, one of the reward chests in Deep Dives will always consume a key when opened. As a result, many players prefer to maximize their rewards by carefully choosing when to spend their Deep Dive keys. This approach conflicts with players who aim to complete Deep Dives quickly for seasonal vendor reputation or weekly rewards. This division in playstyles is similar to the issue faced in Destiny 2's fishing activity.

The Season of the Deep has been a divisive one, particularly due to the conflicting activities available for players. The new in-progress matchmaking feature for Deep Dives is a positive step towards resolving this issue. It would be beneficial for future seasons in Destiny 2 to incorporate similar features that enhance the overall experience of seasonal activities and address any missing content.

In addition to players leaving after failing or skipping pressure trials, the new Exotic weapon quest is also causing players to leave the Deep Dives activity in the middle of the game. Additionally, there are triumphs, challenges, and collectibles in the activity that only involve specific sections instead of completing the activity in its entirety. This abundance of objectives within a single attempt at the activity makes it difficult for randomly matched fire teams to complete it smoothly. Conflicting individual objectives often lead to teams disbanding before reaching the finale. With each player having their own unique motivations for participating in different parts of Deep Dives, it can become quite chaotic. However, the ability to matchmake and join ongoing Deep Dive activities is a valuable feature that will continue to be appreciated as long as the activity remains available.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
