Keke Palmer is thrilled to begin establishing new holiday traditions with her 9-month-old son Leo. "I am looking forward to creating ornaments for every year of Leo's first, second, third, and fifth Christmases," Palmer, 30, said while discussing her collaboration with HelloFresh. "I am also excited about the idea that these ornaments will become a family heirloom. It's something I am really looking forward to."
Palmer was initially inspired by a friend who gifted her personalized ornaments featuring Leo's face. She expressed the idea of turning this into a yearly tradition, creating new custom ornaments to mark his age and growth. Palmer also mentioned passing down this tradition to Leo's future children, indicating that it is something she plans to continue.
After dating for two years, Palmer welcomed Leo with ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson in February. However, the pair have since broken up and Palmer was recently granted a temporary restraining order against Jackson, accusing him of physically abusing her multiple times. She has also filed for full custody of their son.
Now, Palmer's focus is on celebrating Leo's major milestones as he grows. "He’s been rocking back and forth, so that’s a really cool thing," she shared with Us. "And he’s been kind of — not crawling, crawling, but sliding. So it’s like he’s just about to crawl. He also has a budding tooth at the bottom that’s getting ready to come. So I’m very excited about that."
Palmer has chronicled her experience as a mother since revealing her pregnancy in December 2022. She has been open about the challenges and joys of raising a child, from achieving a sustainable work-life equilibrium to addressing negative opinions on her decision to breastfeed in public.

During a September episode of her "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast, she revealed, "I often feel a lot of shame in public spaces. I don't want to make others uncomfortable, but I've learned to stop worrying about that."
Palmer is respected for her authenticity in sharing her lived experiences, from discussing her battle with acne to criticizing unrealistic body ideals and being open about her sexuality. She aims to be relatable in order to inspire others to believe that "success is achievable," as she informed Us.
"There's this misconception that success is only for heartless people," she said. "But for me, success is for everyone - for those who are pursuing their dreams, believing in themselves, and staying persistent."
Palmer emphasized that she wants others to see that her accomplishments are achievable for them as well. "If people can't relate to you, it becomes harder for them to reach their own goals," she explained. "If I'm not making an effort to connect with them and inspire them to achieve their goals, then I don't think I'm really doing my job."
