Denise Richards acknowledges that she was feeling off during the December 6 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and clarifies that there was a specific reason for her strong reaction to Dorit Kemsley's comments about her jacket. At Kyle Richards' THC-infused dinner, Denise's behavior led others to believe she was intoxicated or had indulged too much in the chef's weed-infused meals. When Dorit mentioned that Denise was wearing her baby pink fur coat upside down, Denise responded defensively, expressing that she was aware of what Dorit was doing and did not appreciate it.
In the December 18 episode of the “Just B With Bethenny Frankel” podcast, Denise revealed that she found Dorit's behavior confusing, claiming that Dorit has a long history of making critical comments about her appearance. Denise went on to say, “She does this with everyone—especially directed at me. She’ll criticize my lipstick, my need for mascara, and even comment on my hair. That's why I reacted by telling her to stop and shut up. It makes me wonder if she does this to feel secure about herself.”

Denise went on, "Never has she failed to make a comment about my looks. I didn't care that my jacket was on backwards, I just wanted to leave."
Before the incident with Dorit, Denise confided in Bethenny, explaining that she had informed the group about not feeling well. "As the evening went on, I felt progressively worse. It was strange," Denise shared with Bethenny. "I completely lost it."
When asked if she had taken anything, Denise admitted to having "a drink" before the party and feeling "nervous" about being around the women again after her challenging time on the show. (Denise left the franchise after two seasons in September 2020. Although things seemed cordial during season 9, season 10 took a different turn when Brandi Glanville claimed she and Denise had an affair, which the actress denied.)
“I took some cold medicine, nothing unusual. I'm not sure, I have no idea what it was or if it was a mix-up with my meal. All I know is that when I got home, I felt like, ‘Something is wrong with me.’ I’m sure I made a fool out of myself,” Denise said, adding that she has not yet watched the episode.

Denise wondered why her appearance on the show has resulted in so much talk, given the wild moments in Housewives history. "I don't understand why people are making this into a big deal. All of these women get high or drink a lot. Many of them drink excessively."
She admitted, however, that she probably shouldn’t have attended Kyle’s event and “didn’t want to go” initially.
