Keke Palmer is filing for a restraining order against Darius Jackson and also seeking sole custody of their 8-month-old son, Leodis.
In court documents filed on November 9, Palmer, aged 30, alleged that Jackson, aged 29, had repeatedly abused her throughout their two-year relationship. We have reviewed these documents. Palmer stated that she possessed security footage from an incident on November 5, during which Jackson unlawfully entered her home without her knowledge or consent. He allegedly threatened her, physically attacked her by lunging for her neck, striking her, and throwing her over the couch. Additionally, Palmer claimed that he stole her phone during the altercation.
She proceeded to make accusations claiming numerous incidents of physical violence inflicted upon her by Jackson. These acts include the destruction of personal belongings such as diaries and prescription eyeglasses, as well as hurling her possessions onto the street. Jackson has even gone to the extent of snatching away her car keys to prevent her from leaving, and has physically assaulted her in the presence of their son. Furthermore, he has engaged in verbally abusive behavior by using explicit language about her in front of their child. Disturbingly, he has threatened to take his own life with a firearm if she were to leave him, and has subjected her to continuous harassment, in addition to other forms of physical and emotional abuse.
Keke Palmer declared that her relationship with Jackson came to a definitive end in early October, citing the main reasons as the physical and emotional abuse that he inflicted upon her.
Palmer filed the paperwork following ongoing speculation about her relationship with Jackson, which began after his insensitive comments about her outfit at an Usher concert. In the pictures of their time together in Sin City, Palmer can be seen wearing a black bodysuit with a sheer black polka dot cover-up.
"Your attire though...considering you're a mom," Jackson commented on X (formerly Twitter) back in July.
Following backlash from the online community, Jackson reaffirmed his opinion before ultimately deleting his social media accounts. He stated, "In this day and age, it is frowned upon for a husband and father to approve of his wife and mother of his children showcasing her backside to please others. Unfortunately, he is often labeled as a hater for holding this view." He went on to assert, "This is a representation of my family, and I have certain standards and beliefs that I adhere to. I will say no more." In response, Palmer did not directly acknowledge Jackson's controversial posts but continued to share photographs of herself attending the event.
"I really regret not taking more pictures, but we were in a rush! Let me tell you all now, if you haven't seen @usher, you absolutely must! He was truly amazing, providing entertainment, Atlanta style, with helpful tips and tricks. He's simply iconic," she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. "As a performer, I felt so inspired. And I definitely dominated in the game of spades too! Where is that photo of all of us together with the legendary King himself?"
A month later, Palmer collaborated with Usher, who is 45 years old, for the music video "Boyfriend." The video made a reference to Jackson's comments about Palmer's outfit. "What time is it?" Palmer asked at the end of the video. "Darn it, I missed the show. I'm so exhausted. After all, I'm a mother."
In August, an insider revealed to Us that Palmer and Jackson's relationship had become "complicated" following the Usher drama. Close friends and family members hope that they can work through their issues for the sake of themselves and their child. It is believed that they need to handle these matters privately.
The next month, when asked if she was still dating Jackson, Palmer responded with a playful reference to Beyoncé by saying, "I'm going to take a page out of Beyoncé's book and say, mind y'all's business". She then added, "Yes, life is good. I am filled with nothing but gratitude. Seriously."
Palmer and Jackson, who began their relationship in August 2021, initially made an effort to keep their newfound love away from any public attention.
"It became increasingly challenging to keep it under wraps," Palmer revealed during an interview on The Tamron Hall Show in November 2021. "We spend so much time together, and he truly is my dearest friend, so it reached a point where I decided not to conceal something that brings me joy."
She expressed, "My job is my job, so not everything you see will be included. However, this person holds significance in my life, hence, why not?" Surprising her fans, the ex-Nickelodeon star disclosed her pregnancy during her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live in December 2022. Little Leo arrived two months afterwards.
"Leo possesses a vibrant demeanor, always keeping Keke and Darius alert," revealed a confidential source to Us in February. "The endless nights without sleep have been quite challenging."
