Bungie Co-Founder's Exclusive Game Development Studio Targets Fortnite: The Ultimate Gaming Revolution

Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian and veteran developers unite to form a new studio focused on crafting exclusive game experiences for UEFN, Fortnite's Creative 20 Embark on innovative adventures with this dynamic collaboration

Alex Seropian, a co-founder and former CEO of Bungie, has joined forces with fellow industry veterans to establish Look North World, an independent studio dedicated to developing games exclusively for Fortnite's Unreal Engine (UEFN). UEFN, also known as Creative 2.0, was launched in March 2023, granting users the ability to create entire games within Fortnite using Unreal Engine 5's powerful toolset and share them with others.

Immediately, imaginative individuals began releasing a wide range of maps and games for fellow players to explore. Among the first releases was a faithful recreation of the original Fortnite map, complete with all the iconic locations and OG loot pool. Additionally, Epic Games announced that creators would receive 40% of the revenue generated from their UEFN contributions, providing a considerable opportunity for developers of the most popular maps and games to earn a substantial income.

Creators from all backgrounds, including seasoned game industry veterans like Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian, Patrick Moran (formerly of Amazon and Disney), and other developers who have worked on successful AAA titles, are being attracted by the potential earnings offered. In order to harness this opportunity, they have formed Look North World, a studio dedicated to creating games exclusively using UEFN. What sets the studio apart is their ability to release new games every two to three months, while actively incorporating player feedback. Seropian commented, "Developing in UEFN opens up a plethora of opportunities for us, as we venture into uncharted territory."

Look North World has already launched their debut game on UEFN called Outlaw Corral. This game is designed to enhance the skills of Fortnite players in crucial 1v1 confrontations that occur towards the end of the battle royale. Set in the Wild West, Outlaw Corral presents players with a 16-bracket tournament where each round lasts approximately 5 to 10 minutes. By providing a platform for players to frequently test and refine their abilities, the game equips them to excel in Fortnite's endgame, ensuring they have the necessary skills to be the last person standing.

Look North World aims to release games at a faster pace than traditional development cycles. Currently, the studio is working on multiple projects, including an undisclosed title called Project "Murcielago." To gather feedback, the company will rely on community input, and the first 1,000 members of the Look North World Discord will have the opportunity to beta test new games before their official release. Seropian emphasized the importance of player involvement and stated, "We will experiment to determine what players enjoy and include them in decision-making. We approach this venture with a limitless mindset."

If Look North World's business model proves successful, it may not be the sole professional game studio to enter the realm of UEFN development. However, there will still be ample opportunity for creators of all skill levels to achieve financial success, as long as they offer a unique and enjoyable experience. In the initial stages, much of the content created using Creative 2.0 was copyrighted, with individuals constructing Mario Kart tracks and even Call of Duty maps, leading to Activision initiating DMCA claims. Nonetheless, it is the standout and imaginative creations that possess the potential to generate substantial earnings.

Fortnite is currently available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
