Kailyn Lowry believes it's important for boys to understand menstruation.
In a TikTok video posted on Saturday, April 6, the Teen Mom 2 star, 32, shared, "Teach your sons about periods because we’re on vacation and I just unexpectedly got my period. Now normally I wouldn’t freak out about this, but I have four of my boys with me by myself."
Lowry was on a spring break trip with her oldest sons: Isaac, 14, from ex Joe Rivera, Lincoln, 10, from ex Javi Marroquin, and Lux, 6, and Creed, 3, from ex Chris Lopez.
She was surprised by her unexpected visitor, her monthly period. Lowry explained that her periods can be irregular due to her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). She mentioned that she believes in being open with her sons about periods, just in case it catches her off guard.
"I'm grateful that they know what to do in case I have a sudden Aunt Flow emergency," she said. "Isaac or Lincoln can run to the store and get what I need."
She admitted that she doesn't feel bad about asking her kids for help during her period.
"When we're out and about, I don't hesitate to ask my oldest son to check me," she said. "Because sometimes you just don't know if you leak through things."
In addition to her four sons, Lowry is also the mother of son Rio, 14 months, and newborn twins Verse and Valley with her boyfriend, Elijah Scott. The twins’ date of birth has not been announced, but in January, they revealed that their family was complete. Lowry also shared that she had her tubes removed in the same month.
During an episode of her "Barely Famous" podcast, she mentioned that she feels content with her decision to get her tubes tied. She also mentioned that if she were to get pregnant again, it wouldn't have upset her. However, she emphasized that she and her partner had already made the decision to be done having children.
In the following month, she expressed how happy she was to have all seven of her children living under the same roof.
"I had all seven of my kids together in one room for the first time," she shared in a TikTok video from February, cradling one of her newborns.
In the video, Lincoln agreed with his mom that having a "house full of boys feels nice," but mentioned that he needed some time to get used to the energetic environment.
“We get to wrestle and play basketball and play sports,” he said. “Everything, man.”
