Revealed: Kailyn Lowry's Unconventional Parenting Method that's Redefining Bonding with Youngest Kids

Kailyn Lowry, a former cast member of Teen Mom 2, is a mother to five children and practices cosleeping with her two youngest kids.

During the recent episode of the "Coffee Convos" podcast on Thursday, October 19, Lowry, who is now 31 years old, discussed her decision to share a bed with her infant and her 3-year-old child. Additionally, her 6-year-old son, Lux, also joins them in her room for the night.

"[Creed], Rio, and Lux all sleep in my bed. Lux even brings his nugget couch to my room and sleeps on it. Right now, I have three kids in my room. If I go another night without sleep, I'm going to lose my mind. I'm about to snap in half," she told Chrisley, 34. Knowing that her explanation might invite criticism, Lowry, who has children with different partners, including Isaac, Lincoln, Lux, Creed, and Rio, explained that her sons serve as her "security blanket."

“As much as I would love to have them out of my room, they also provide me with a sense of security,” she expressed. "I feel like we rely on each other because their childhood passes by so quickly. The realization that there are only 18 summers left hits hard. Isaac is already nearly 14. Time flies."

Lowry had been documenting her journey as a mother for more than ten years on Teen Mom 2 before her departure in 2022. However, she chose to keep her entire pregnancy with Rio a secret until recently when she spoke about her youngest son for the first time.

During her "Barely Famous" podcast on Friday, October 13, Lowry shared that Rio's birth was a traumatic experience for her. He had to be rushed to the NICU immediately after delivery. In contrast, Scott, her partner, remained composed throughout the ordeal.

“To me, a NICU stay is equivalent to being near death,” she reflected. “It was an extremely distressing experience, not only for me but also for him. It felt as if he entered the NICU and emerged from it extraordinarily quickly.”

Lowry expressed her disappointment that Scott didn't shed tears of joy upon their child's birth.

According to her, Scott reasoned that their limited time together after the delivery forced him to immediately go to the NICU.

She further narrated that she barely had the chance to embrace their newborn for a mere three seconds before medical professionals swiftly whisked him away to the NICU. This unexpected turn of events left her deeply distraught and frightened.
