Why Destiny 2's Veil Mission Demands Multiple Playthroughs

Destiny 2's Veil Containment mission offers a unique challenge that players should consider replaying weekly for a chance at valuable rewards and a deeper understanding of the game's lore

Players who completed the Veil Containment mission in Destiny 2 to obtain the highly sought-after Neomuna hand cannon have been advised to revisit the mission at least once more. Following the release of the Lightfall DLC, gamers quickly realized that Bungie had left some vital questions unanswered regarding the enigmatic Veil. In response, new missions were introduced alongside the Season of the Deep to address this oversight. Although the Epochal Integration weapon served as an incentive for players to engage with the mission, the most intriguing aspect was Osiris's revelation that it would take him several days to decipher messages from a key character, promising further revelations about the lore. However, when the weekly reset occurred, the quest ended without any further developments.

Despite not being explicitly stated in-game, players can uncover more decrypted messages in Veil Containment by completing the mission once a week. This is great news for those interested in the game's lore, although the lack of communication within the game itself is a clear issue. It confirms that the Veil quest in Destiny 2 is indeed time-gated on a weekly basis, a common tactic used by Bungie to keep players engaged over a longer period of time. However, in contrast to previous quests, the requirement to return to Veil Containment is not clearly explained in the game's quest logs. It is left to the players to discover this on their own.

For those who find the Veil's mysterious nature unsatisfying, adding another activity to their weekly Destiny 2 reset schedule may be worthwhile, even if the game doesn't provide updates on that front. Alternatively, players may eventually have the option to obtain all encrypted messages at once, saving time for those who don't want to replay Veil Containment every week. Furthermore, Destiny veterans will appreciate the new dungeon's playful reference to Red War, a memorable mission from the game's unplayable first campaign mode. As Bungie appears to have set up many secrets for Season of the Deep, it's possible that more will be revealed over time.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
