Val Chmerkovskiy, 37, stated in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, December 6, that he has no intentions of leaving Dancing With the Stars after his win with Xochitl Gomez in season 32. "I would return next season. Listen, if they had me back, I’d love to be back. It’s going to be a tough season to follow," Chmerkovskiy expressed.
Tuesday marked Chmerkovskiy's third win since joining DWTS in 2006. Chmerkovskiy and Gomez wowed the judges with their final performances - a foxtrot and freestyle dance to “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry and “Que Calor” by District 78, earning a perfect score of 30 out of 30 for both dances.
“It feels great. This one feels a little different. It’s been seven years since I was able to be lucky enough to win and to win it with this young lady,” he gushed. “Man, she carried us all season. She made me look great as a teacher [and] as a partner.”
Gomez expressed her gratitude for Chmerkovskiy, saying, “That goes both ways. You can’t really know how to really do any of this unless you have someone who really understands you. So you really understood me and you did all the dances that had my personality in it. And I think that’s what’s important.”

Chmerkovskiy treasures the win even more now that he's a father. "It's incredible. I'm eager to share this with my son," the professional dancer, whose wife Jenna Johnson welcomed son Rome in January, told Us. "He'll definitely want to celebrate with this. It's the first thing he'll ask for."
While Chmerkovskiy danced with Gomez this season, Johnson, 29, partnered with Tyson Beckford. The couple had talked about their plans for competing against each other before DWTS began in September.
“We offer each other support, but we also find ourselves venting to one another. So, it can be challenging,” Chmerkovskiy shared with Us that month. “It’s like you are experiencing the stress of two couples because, obviously, we could have a great night and I’ll be very happy, but if she and [Tyson] have a bad night, it’s going to be a tough position to be celebrating in.”

Val shared that he and Johnson are focused on prioritizing a healthy work-life balance. "Parenting is something we both value and we want to be more mindful about leaving work at work and focusing on our son and our personal life when we're at home," he explained. "It's a big milestone that he's able to sit up and hold his head up."
