Matt Walsh is grateful after being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. The 58-year-old Veep alum shared his feelings on social media, posting a photo of a homemade sign that read "we love you." He expressed his appreciation for the support he received and credited his family for being there for him after a difficult night on TV.

Matt's partner, Koko Iwasaki, took to her personal Instagram Story to express her thoughts on their elimination. She wrote, "I am incredibly proud of Matt and the way he flawlessly executed the chacha steps tonight. He is not just an absolute delight to work with, but also a dedicated learner. If I had the opportunity, I would choose him as my partner for every season."

She added, "This is just the beginning for Matt and we will keep on dancing! My dear friend, I love you. I also want to express my gratitude to all of you for the overwhelming love and support."

The dancing pair, who performed a Cha Cha to "Poison" by Bell Biv DeVoe, became the first couple to be eliminated in season 32 of DWTS. They received the lowest score of the night during the season premiere on Tuesday.

After being eliminated, Walsh commended Iwasaki, describing her as "the best." He expressed his enjoyment and gratitude for the experience, and suggested the judges revisit their routine at some point.

In his intro package, Walsh jokingly referred to the ABC series as the "Olympics of dance" before expressing his determination to succeed in the competition. "I hope I'm not the first person eliminated because I am a competitive person," he shared. "However, I believe I am America's sweetheart. They might just carry me to victory."

Before the Tuesday episode, Walsh made the decision to take a "pause" from the show in support of the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) strike. In a statement to Variety on September 21, he explained, "I joined the show with the understanding that it was not a WGA show and operated under a different agreement. However, upon being informed by my union, the WGA, that it falls under the category of struck work, I walked out of my rehearsal."

"I will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG, and DGA. I am also aware of the impact of the strike on many individuals and I hope for a quick and fair resolution. I look forward to working again with the amazing people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing. After the WGA announced a tentative deal with the AMPTP on September 24, my representative confirmed on September 25 that I will be competing on the show after all. It has been a challenging summer for all union members, so I am glad that the WGA was able to negotiate a deal with the studios. Now, let's use this progress to get all SAG/AFTRA actors back to work."
