‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pros: Welcoming a New Generation!

Peta Murgatroyd, Karina Smirnoff, and several other professional dancers from Dancing With the Stars have become parents throughout the years. In January 2017, the star of Faith, Hope & Love, Peta, gave birth to her son, Shai, with her then-fiancé, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The couple expressed their joy, stating that this was undoubtedly the best thing that had ever happened to them.

The couple got married in New York six months later. Even before Shai turned one, he already had a love for music. Murgatroyd revealed, “We make it a point to expose him to music every day. We hold him on our hips and dance around the room with him. He absolutely loves it.”

By the next year, their child became infatuated with Pitbull and Dua Lipa during dance parties with his parents. Murgatroyd playfully said, “It would be disappointing if he couldn't dance with us considering we're his parents,” during an interview with Us in February 2019.

Smirnoff, the winner of season 13, gave birth to her son, Theo, in April 2020. According to a source, she is doing well and experiencing a mix of nervousness and excitement as a first-time mom.

It wasn't until three months after Theo's birth that the Famously Single alum revealed her baby bump on Instagram. In a July 2020 slideshow, Smirnoff captioned the photos with "#FBF The day before Theo arrived. #hospitalfashion #timeflies."

Smirnoff admitted feeling anxious as a new mother, recalling a moment during a May 2020 event. She shared that while she loved babies, she felt unsure when it came to holding them. She expressed her panic, worrying that she wouldn't even know how to change a diaper when her own baby arrived. People tried to reassure her, saying that parental instincts would kick in naturally. To alleviate her worries, Smirnoff decided to move in with her extremely supportive parents, acknowledging that she couldn't manage without their help.
