Xur is currently stationed in the Winding Cove located in the EDZ, presenting players with the chance to obtain exotic armor and weapons. This includes Winter's Guile for Warlocks, Gwisin Vest for Hunters, and Khepri's Horn for Titans. The Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher is also obtainable.
Xur has made a return to Destiny 2, bringing with him a fresh selection of exotic and legendary gear for players to explore for a limited time. It is the second week of the annual summer Solstice event in Destiny 2, granting players another opportunity to eliminate mobs in the European Aerial Zone, toss orbs into a massive bonfire, and complete all the challenges on the Event Card. This also means that players can continue to strive for the perfect roll on the event's new Strand-based rocket launcher, known as The Crowning Duologue.
Solstice's core gameplay loop has remained largely unchanged throughout the years. However, fans are eagerly anticipating Season 22 and Bungie's upcoming Showcase Event. Recently, Bungie provided some more information about Season 22, specifically outlining significant economy changes. The weekly blog post also unveiled plans for the Exotic Mission Rotator and major alterations to the Dead Man's Tale scout rifle.
In the meantime, Xur, the weekend merchant, has returned to the world of Destiny 2. Refer to this guide for his current weekend location, updates on his exotic cipher quest, and a comprehensive review of all the exotic and legendary gear he has brought for the weekend of July 28, 2023.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, Destiny 2 players will need to head to the Winding Cove in the EDZ to find Xur.
To quickly reach Xur, go to the Winding Cove zone and make your way to the rear area where the Fallen usually roam. Ascend the cliffs in this vicinity until you come across Xur perched on a ledge, not far from a wrecked spaceship.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. These quests are not only required to purchase a second fated engram, but also necessary for acquiring legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. By completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches, players can earn a new cipher. Moreover, they can gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur expands his merchandise beyond his typical offerings and now presents a wider range of gear. Alongside his customary exotic items, Xur introduces Legendary Weapons and Armor, purchasable with Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Winter's Guile - Warlock gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
Warlord's Sigil - Eliminating enemies with melee attacks increases your melee damage.
Warlocks who thrive on close combat with enemies may find this exotic item intriguing. While it may not outclass the highest-ranked meta gear, it can still provide enjoyable opportunities under specific conditions. Moreover, this week's stat values are quite favorable, with a notable strength bonus that amplifies melee capabilities.
Stat Values (Total: 67):
Mobility +10
Resilience +12
Recovery +12
Discipline +10
Intellect +6
Strength +17
Gwisin Vest - Hunter chest armor
Exotic Perk:
Roving Assassin - Each Spectral Blades kill the player makes before going into stealth will restore more of their Super energy.
The roll is solid, though not quite as impressive as some of the items offered by Xur. However, the Gwisin Vest is still a decent option. While it has enjoyed popularity in previous years, it is primarily suited for Nightstalkers who have equipped Spectral Blades. Potential buyers should be cautious.
Stat Values (Total: 64)
Mobility +21
Resilience +11
Recovery +2
Discipline +13
Intellect +15
Strength +2
Khepri's Horn - Titan helmet
Exotic Perk:
Solar Rampart - Solar final blows recharge Barricade, which unleashes a blast of Solar energy that scorches targets when summoned.
Finally, Titan players have a Xur exotic that doesn't prioritize mobility. However, this week's featured item is Khepri's Horn, which offers decent crowd control but requires the use of Solar weapons and/or the Sunbreaker class. It's not essential, so players can easily skip it.
Stat Values (Total: 66):
Mobility +14
Resilience +18
Recovery +3
Discipline +14
Intellect +2
Strength +15
Exotic Weapon
This weekend, Xur will have the Wardcliff Coil rocket launcher available for players. With the Mad Scientist perk, this weapon has the unique ability to fire a barrage of rockets rather than a single shot like other launchers. To enhance its explosiveness, the Volatile Launch perk significantly boosts the blast radius while marginally reducing handling and projectile speed.
For newcomers, this weapon is excellent for PvE encounters, as it can effortlessly handle hordes of adversaries and deal substantial damage to boss enemies. Nonetheless, when compared to other rocket launcher options like the mighty and cooperative Gjallarhorn, the Wardcliff may have been overshadowed.
Weapon perks:
Mechanized Autoloader
Extended Mags
Composite Stock
Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale Rolls
With the removal of the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions in Season 16, Xur now offers the opportunity to acquire both Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale with randomized rolls. It is highly recommended for players to make a visit to Xur every weekend, as he will have a fresh set of rolls available for these weapons.
Hawkmoon Rolls:
Arrowhead Brake
Alloy Magazine
Opening Shot
Textured Grip
Dead Man's Tale Rolls:
Corkscrew Rifling
High-Calibur Rounds
