Bungie sets restrictions for Destiny 2's Contest Mode raid, Crota's End, ensuring a smoother return Discover the latest limitations to enhance the challenge and excitement of the highly anticipated raid

Highlights

Bungie is putting restrictions on bounties and weapon crafting in order to ensure server stability during Crota's End contest mode raid weekends.

After completing the Crota's End raid in Destiny 2, players can anticipate facing further obstacles to secure the prestigious title of world's first. The restrictions applied in Crota's End might serve as a benchmark for future contest mode raids, providing a measure of the upcoming raid's difficulty, such as The Final Shape.

To ensure server stability during contest mode raid weekends, Bungie will impose limitations on bounties and weapon crafting for the duration of Crota's End's return in Destiny 2. Previous day one races for raids have been plagued by server instability, which ultimately affects the order in which players finish. The studio is taking every measure possible to ensure a smooth experience with the contest mode restrictions. As part of Destiny 2's latest season, Season of the Witch, Crota's End will make its return as the game's third reprised raid, alongside Vault of Glass and King's Fall. This raid, originally introduced in Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, takes players on a journey beneath the Moon's surface to locate and enter Crota's Throne World, where the Hive god can be defeated.

Ahead of the day one race, Bungie has provided a sneak peek into what players can anticipate from the revival of Crota's End. These insights highlight the measures taken to address server instability issues. To ensure smoother gameplay, the studio revealed that during the contest mode weekend, progress in bounty completion and weapon crafting will be restricted to "boss tier" enemies, allowing the servers to have some breathing space. This limitation will also extend to King's Fall, offering additional respite to the game's servers throughout the contest mode in Crota's End.

Unveiling the Secrets: Destiny 2 Unleashes New Restrictions and Crafting Bounty for Crota's End Contest Mode

As part of their efforts to ensure a smooth experience for the day one race, Bungie has implemented two restrictions for the return of Crota's End. These restrictions are just a few of the many measures being taken by the studio. Another measure involves introducing additional challenges for fireteams to tackle after completing the raid, similar to what was done for the Vault of Glass and King's Fall in contest mode.

Considering the "brutal" nature of the reprised version of Crota's End, it wouldn't be surprising if these restrictions become the norm for future contest mode raids. Furthermore, one can speculate that Bungie may be using this refreshed raid as a means to assess the difficulty of The Final Shape's raid, by comparing it to the level of challenge teased in Crota's End.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
