In Week 8, players learned that Chioma and her wife, Maya Sundaresh, traveled to Neptune after the Collapse and established Neomuna, the place we now know, while also uncovering The Veil. Somewhere along the way, Maya became fixated on The Veil and the Vex, resulting in her creation of a clone of herself named Lakshmi-2, who was an Exo. This connection is evident in Lakshmi-2's current obsession with the Vex during the Season of the Splicer.

In the audio logs of Week 9, The Veil is described as a network of consciousness—an organic system unlike the artificial Vex in Destiny 2. Chioma Esi also offers some insights into why the Vex would desire control over The Veil, pondering the possibilities of paracausal simulations. Considering the bigger picture on Neomuna, these audio logs provide some reasoning behind certain occurrences on Neptune.
