Bungie's latest Destiny 2 trailer showcases the upcoming Festival of the Lost event, set to launch on October 17. This Halloween-inspired event first debuted in 2015 as a limited-time activity in Destiny, where players could collect candy from vendors, don masks representing various NPCs, and earn loot from Mystery Bags, Consumables, and premium Eververse store items. Over the years, the event has grown and evolved, becoming a significant feature in Destiny 2 with the addition of more content, rewards, and activities such as Haunted Lost Sectors.

This year's Festival of the Lost continues to build upon its seasonal legacy. Bungie has recently detailed a range of exciting changes, including the introduction of a Legendary version of Haunted Lost Sectors. This new challenge offers players the opportunity to earn even more rewards by overcoming greater difficulties. Additionally, the event introduces a rare Memento drop and introduces Eerie Engrams, a new resource that can either grant players instant gear rewards or be focused at Eva Levante in exchange for legendary weapons or exotic gear.

The Festival of the Lost is set to begin later today after the Destiny 2 reset. Bungie has released a new trailer showcasing the seasonal activity and the gear that can be earned. The themed armor set for Festival of the Lost is called Creepy Crawlies, which was chosen by the community. The three classes will be transformed into different types of beetles and spiders. Cosmetics will play a major role in the 3-week event, and the trailer highlights various emotes and new masks, including one featuring the raid boss Rhulk.

The Destiny 2 trailer also introduces the Legendary Lost Sector activities. Masked players can earn candy by defeating enemies and have a chance to receive additional rewards, including Eerie Engrams. Returning from last year is the Mechabre Sniper Rifle, along with the Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle and the Horror Story Auto Rifle. The latest addition to this year's event is a heavy grenade launcher named Acosmic, which creates an explosive effect resembling a black hole.

During this year's Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2, exotic gear takes center stage. Eerie Engrams hold even greater value as they can now be focused into exotic armor spanning from the early days of Destiny 2 to the Witch Queen expansion. Additionally, Bungie has introduced the opportunity for players to focus these engrams into exotic gear that they haven't even collected yet, providing an alternative method to obtain the latest exotic armor without the need to endlessly grind Legendary or Master Lost Sectors. Destiny 2 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
