Xur has made his return to Destiny 2, offering a fresh selection of exotic and legendary gear for players to explore, albeit for a limited time. One notable addition is the Season of the Deep's unique exotic mission, which leads players on a journey to obtain the coveted Wicked Implement scout rifle. However, before embarking on this quest, players must first undertake the task of capturing three exotic fish from each destination and then utilizing the broken blades they possess to unlock hidden statues in a Deep Dive activity.
Although the mission itself has been well-received by players, tackling the Deep Dive missions has proven to be more challenging. Destiny 2 players have observed that these missions have become increasingly chaotic and perplexing, particularly due to the lack of coordination among matchmade fireteams. Each fireteam seems to be operating independently, with their own objectives and steps in the quest, resulting in players heading in different directions and often disregarding areas that others urgently need to access in order to progress with their own objectives.
Where is Xur?
Meanwhile, Xur, the merchant known for making appearances during weekends in the world of Destiny 2, has once again returned. To stay updated with his current location, exotic cipher quest updates, and a comprehensive review of all the exotic and legendary gear he is offering for the weekend of July 7, 2023, refer to this guide.
Over the next few days, Xur can be found hanging out in the Tower Hangar.
As always, swiftly journey towards the primary Tower spot and proceed to the left into the Hangar. Upon reaching the Hangar, make a left turn and navigate past the Dead Orbit area until you come across a metallic staircase. Ascend the stairs and you will discover Xur positioned on a platform, gazing out at the majestic mountain range in the distance.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur still offers his weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. These quests are not only necessary to buy a second fated engram, but also to obtain legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. By completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches, players can earn a new cipher. Bonus points can be gained for playing with clan mates or completing more challenging activities.
In addition to his usual content, Xur now sells even more gear. Alongside his normal exotic gear, Xur now offers Legendary Weapons and Armor in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Wings of Sacred Dawn - Warlock chest armor
Exotic Perk:
Fragment
When equipped with the Tome of Dawn, aiming weapons while midair will temporarily suspend them, resulting in improved accuracy, reduced flinch, and increased damage resistance. The duration of this effect can be extended by landing weapon hits. This ability significantly enhances the airborne effectiveness of all weapons. However, the Wings of Sacred Dawn exotic armor, which offers similar perks, may not be suitable for all players as it leaves them vulnerable while elevated. Therefore, it is advisable to skip this option for now.
Stat Values (67 Total):
Mobility +17
Resilience +10
Recovery +7
Discipline +12
Intellect +15
Strength +6
Wormhusk Crown - Hunter helmet
Exotic Perk:
Dodging provides a minor increase in both health and shield regeneration. Despite having the lowest overall rating at 66, the Wormhusk Crown remains a useful helmet, albeit not as potent as before. However, it can still be beneficial in certain situations, making it a worthwhile acquisition, especially with the added advantage of an above average roll this week.
Stat Values (66 Total):
Mobility +17
Resilience +8
Recovery +7
Discipline +6
Intellect +2
Strength +26
Stronghold - Titan gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
Clenched Fist - Enhances guard stats on equipped Swords, reducing damage taken while blocking. Dealing rapid damage to targets after blocking shots with a Sword triggers restoration for a duration based on the number of shots blocked.
Although this is a favorable choice for Titans, the practicality of this exotic item is a subject of discussion. It offers no advantage to players who do not utilize swords, making it highly situational. For most players, this item is likely to be overlooked, unless they need to replace inferior rolls or add it to their collection. However, it is worth mentioning that Swords are undergoing revisions soon, making this exotic potentially valuable to own and keep.
Stat Values (67 total):
Mobility +2
Resilience +20
Recovery +11
Discipline +16
Intellect +2
Strength +16
Exotic Weapon
The exotic weapon Coldheart in Destiny 2, which was previously only available through pre-order, can now be obtained from Xur. Coldheart possesses the unique exotic perk Cold Fusion, allowing it to emit a powerful beam of icy energy. Additionally, its second perk, Longest Winter, enhances the damage dealt by the beam as it continues to stay focused on a target.
Trace Rifles received a significant enhancement during Season 17, making it a highly enjoyable weapon to utilize. While it may not currently rank among the top-tier weaponry, it still holds its own and is worth considering.
Perks of this weapon include:
Linear Compensator
High Velocity Rounds
Composite Stock
Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale Rolls
Since Season 16 eliminated the Presage and Harbinger exotic quests, Xur now offers both Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale with randomized perks. Players are advised to pay him a visit every weekend, as he will have new rolls available.
Hawkmoon Rolls:
Hammer-Forged Rifling
Alloy Magazine
Eye of the Storm
Textured Grip
