Pre-ordering The Final Shape will grant players a copy of Tessellation, though it is expected to be available with the Standard or Annual Pass Editions following the expansion's release on February 27. While currently lacking a Catalyst, there is potential for one to be added upon the expansion's launch.

Destiny 2 is bringing its 10-year Light and Darkness saga to a close, starting from the original game in 2014. The Final Shape will tell a complete story, beginning with the campaign and ending with the Raid. The recent showcase not only revealed intriguing details about the expansion but also marked the start of the second-to-last season leading up to The Final Shape. Destiny 2's Season of the Witch introduces a Hive-themed story featuring Xivu Arath, Immaru, and Eris Morn. As usual, players will have a variety of new tools of destruction to acquire before facing The Witness in the final battle. Pre-ordering The Final Shape will grant Guardians the unique Tessellation Exotic.

Destiny 2 has been introducing increasingly transformative Exotic weapons and armor in its Raids and seasons. Each of these items significantly alters the gameplay experience, often becoming part of the meta. In the lead-up to the launch of Lightfall, Bungie made it available for pre-order during The Witch Queen era. This release included a new Exotic weapon that quickly became one of the top choices in Year 6. Similarly, The Final Shape's Tessellation follows in the footsteps of the highly regarded Quicksilver Storm.

Destiny 2: How to Get The Tessellation Exotic Fusion Rifle and What it Does

The Final Shape offers three different editions - the Standard Edition, The Final Shape + Annual Pass, and The Final Shape Collector's Edition. Only the latter two editions allow players who pre-order to receive a copy of Tessellation in the game. Instead of getting Tessellation from Master Rahool as usual, it will be available from the new Special Deliveries Kiosk introduced with Season of the Witch. Players who want Tessellation can only acquire it by pre-purchasing the upcoming expansion.

In the future, Tessellation may receive the same treatment as Destiny 2's Quicksilver Storm after the launch of Lightfall. When The Final Shape is released, every purchase of the Standard or Annual Pass Editions will grant a copy of the Exotic weapon. Currently, Tessellation has two signature perks but is missing an Exotic Catalyst. Following the example set by the Catalyst release for Quicksilver Storm during Lightfall, it's likely that Tessellation will also receive one upon the release of The Final Shape on February 27th of next year.

The first signature perk of the Tessellation Exotic fusion rifle is Property: Undecidable. This perk allows the rifle to change its damage type based on the player's equipped subclass, while also restoring grenade energy upon delivering fatal blows. This unique feature allows for the first time ever in Destiny 2 Strand builds or Stasis builds to have a complete weapon loadout consisting of three matching guns. The advantage of this is that players can easily stack mods such as Strand or Stasis Siphons and Weapon Surges, benefiting all of their weapons for maximum efficiency.

The second perk, Property: Irreducible, enables players to hold the reload button to consume their grenade charge and unleash a slow-moving, high-damage projectile in a wide area. This capability is incredibly useful for eliminating large numbers of enemies or facing mini-bosses and bosses. The wide area of effect ensures the destruction of multiple red-bar or orange-bar enemies simultaneously, replenishing grenade energy and continuing the cycle. Overall, the Tessellation Exotic fusion rifle proves to be an outstanding tool in Destiny 2, particularly in preparation for The Final Shape, and is expected to be utilized during Season of the Witch and Season 23.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
