Xur has returned to Destiny 2 with new exotic and legendary gear for a limited time, including weapons like Lord of Wolves and Hawkmoon.
Warlocks have the option to acquire Verity's Brow, Hunters can obtain Lucky Pants, and Titans have access to Stronghold.
Xur is located in the Winding Cove of the European Dead Zone. Here, he offers quests, exotic gear, and legendary weapons and armor in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Xur has made his return to Destiny 2, bringing with him a fresh assortment of exotic and legendary gear for players to discover during a limited time. As the Season of the Deep nears its end, both Bungie and players are getting ready for the highly anticipated Final Shape showcase later this month. However, one notable change is that Xur will be missing one of his exotic weapons due to the upcoming addition of the Exotic Mission Rotator at the beginning of Season 22.
In a surprising announcement, Bungie also shared their plans for Commander Zavala's future. Despite the unfortunate passing of fan-favorite voice actor Lance Reddick earlier this year, Bungie assured fans that Zavala's journey is far from over and introduced Keith David as the new voice behind the character. Many fans are already familiar with David's impressive work in film and television, as well as his extensive career voicing beloved characters such as Halo's Arbiter and Mass Effect's Admiral David Anderson. Regardless, the overwhelming consensus among fans is that Zavala is in capable hands with David taking on the role.
For the upcoming days, the weekend vendor Xur has made a reemergence in the realm of Destiny 2. Refer to this guide to discover his current weekend whereabouts, updates on his exotic cipher mission, and a comprehensive overview of all the exotic and legendary equipment he has in store for the weekend beginning on August 11, 2023.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, Destiny 2 players will need to head to the Winding Cove in the European Dead Zone.
Take the fast travel point in the Winding Cove located in the EDZ section of the Director, and proceed towards the rear of the zone. You will spot Xur standing on a cliff, overseeing the area beneath a fallen ship wreckage.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur still fulfills his usual role of offering weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. These quests are not only necessary for purchasing a second fated engram, but also for obtaining legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by finishing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Additionally, they can earn bonus points by playing with clan mates or completing more challenging activities.
Furthermore, Xur now offers a wider range of gear beyond his usual content. Along with his regular exotic gear, Xur now sells Legendary Weapons and Armor in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Verity's Brow - Warlock helmet
Exotic Perk:
Content has been rewritten below:
The Fourth Magic - When the final blows of a weapon match the damage type of the subclass energy, it activates Death Throes. Death Throes provides a bonus to grenade damage and grants you grenade energy. Additionally, when you have Death Throes and throw a grenade, nearby allies experience significantly increased grenade regeneration for a brief period.
This solid exotic is equipped with a decent roll, making it perfect for those who love throwing grenades and dealing more damage than usual. It also serves as a useful support tool, boosting the abilities of nearby allies. However, it is unlikely to replace any of the currently dominant top-performing exotics in the meta.
Stat Values (65 Total):
Mobility +18
Resilience +12
Recovery +4
Discipline +18
Intellect +2
Strength +11
Lucky Pants - Hunter leg armor
Exotic Perk:
Improved Illegal Holster - When you equip a fully loaded Hand Cannon that inflicts Kinetic damage or matches your subclass energy type, each hit from that Hand Cannon temporarily increases the damage of the next shot against an enemy. Hand Cannons become ready faster and more accurate immediately after switching to them. Additionally, it provides a slight boost to the airborne effectiveness stat of Hand Cannons while the buff is active.
This is a perplexing piece as it not only boasts the highest resilience stat among all three armors this week (29 resilience), but it also has the lowest overall roll. While it is a viable option for hand cannon enthusiasts, it is not necessarily a crucial acquisition this week.
Stat Values (64 Total):
Mobility +3
Resilience +29
Recovery +2
Discipline +14
Intellect +6
Strength +10
Stronghold - Titan gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
Clenched Fist - Enhances guard stats on equipped Swords, reducing damage taken while blocking. Dealing rapid damage to enemies after blocking with a Sword restores health for a duration determined by the number of blocked shots.
Similar to the Lucky Pants above, this exotic is tailored specifically for Sword users. Players who do not use Swords can easily disregard it. However, in Season 21, Stronghold received several updates that significantly improved its performance. Its perk, however, remains beneficial only for those who wield a Sword. Therefore, deciding whether to acquire it primarily depends on this factor. Nonetheless, this particular roll boasts an exceptionally high quality, making it worth considering as a replacement for a lesser version.
Stat Values (69 total):
Mobility +20
Resilience +4
Recovery +12
Discipline +6
Intellect +10
Strength +17
Exotic Weapon
In the past, the Lord of Wolves shotgun reigned supreme as one of the most popular weapons in the game due to a glitch that made it incredibly effective against enemies. While Bungie allowed this weapon to dominate Crucible for a longer period than intended, it has since been significantly toned down and is no longer as formidable as before. However, it still remains a powerful choice for close quarters combat and is definitely worth considering for those who have yet to acquire it.
The weapon comes with a perk known as Shrapnel Launcher, enabling it to unleash a devastating burst of solar damage at close range. However, the Release the Wolves trait significantly amplifies the weapon's effectiveness, allowing players to hold down the reload button and switch to a longer, more impactful burst.
