Bungie has unveiled its weapon tuning preview for Season 23 of Destiny 2, indicating that numerous weapons will receive slight enhancements. Additionally, the preview provides further insights into the forthcoming Thorn Catalyst, set to debut in Season 23.
As outlined in Bungie's recent in-depth exploration of weapons, the upcoming Thorn Catalyst will offer advantageous buffs in PvP that augment the weapon's potency, featuring the following improvements:
+20 range
+10 stability
Additional range, handling, and mobility are granted upon getting kills or picking up a Remnant.
Thorn will also undergo a base change aimed at enhancing the weapon's enjoyment in PvE. Now, picking up a Remnant will cause the magazine to overflow, allowing up to a maximum of 40 rounds.
General weapon archetypes, including Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles, and Sniper Rifles, will receive minor buffs in PvE. However, Glaives will undergo a significant overhaul this season, with numerous enhancements designed to improve both melee and ranged capabilities.
Recognizing the importance of the Impulse Amplifier perk for Glaive usage, Bungie has introduced a similar buff as a fundamental improvement. Additionally, to compensate for ammunition limitations, damage in PvE has been increased. Furthermore, projectile speed has been boosted by 30%, while there has been a slight reduction in projectile damage in PvP to balance out the increased speed.
In order to enhance the experience of melee combat, the time delay between firing and performing a melee attack has been reduced. Additionally, adjustments have been made to improve the effectiveness and usability of the Glaive's shield. Certain exotic Glaives in Destiny 2, including the three class Glaives introduced in The Witch Queen, as well as Winterbite, have been enhanced to make them more enjoyable to use. Winterbite has been made slightly stronger and safer for the user.
To optimize PvE gameplay, Vex Mythoclast will receive further buffs, while Revision Zero has been given increased damage against Champions. Moreover, Salvation's Grip has been fine-tuned to prevent a bug where excessive shattering of Stasis crystals could potentially launch players into orbit.
The only weapon expected to receive a nerf in this preview is Osteo Striga. According to Bungie, it has been excessively powerful in terms of ease of use for add clear in PvE. The nerf is currently minimal, as it removes the SMG damage bonus scalar that caused Osteo Striga's poison damage to reach extreme levels. However, even with this adjustment, the weapon should still maintain a considerable amount of power.
