Bungie, the developer of the immensely popular Destiny 2, is gradually sharing information about Season 22's features, weapons, and activities leading up to the grand showcase on August 22nd. In their latest announcement, Bungie has revealed a new weapon archetype for Season 22, providing in-depth insights into its development decisions. Following the successful release of the Witch Queen expansion, the studio has been dedicated to creating unique weapons and archetypes that offer players exciting new gameplay possibilities. Paired with the changes introduced in Destiny 2's Season of the Deep, Bungie aims for the upcoming expansion of the weapon sandbox to have a lasting impact.
Destiny 2's success is attributed in large part to its impressive weapon arsenal and diverse gameplay. The game seamlessly combines weapon-based combat with ability-oriented gameplay, allowing for unique strategies and build customization. Players can choose from a range of bladed and projectile-based weapons, categorized by their functionality and intended roles. The developers have even introduced sub-categories, known as archetypes, which consider factors such as rate of fire, optimal range, and projectile type.
In a recent blog post, Bungie announced the return of the Hand Cannon known as Warden's Law from the Forsaken expansion. The developers have made necessary adjustments to ensure the weapon is compatible with the current sandbox. Warden's Law is a distinctive Hand Cannon with burst-fire capabilities, firing two rounds per trigger pull instead of the original three. The weapon features different bullet spread patterns, a lower burst rate of 600 RPM to compensate for recoil, a slightly longer time-to-kill of 0.93 seconds, an optimal range of 35 meters with manual recoil control, and plenty of perks that can further enhance its various stats.
The post discusses the arrival of Warden's Law in Destiny 2's updated weapon sandbox, signaling the introduction of a new burst-fire-based Hand Cannon class. Additional options for this archetype will be added in the future, although the developers have not provided any details on upcoming Exotic Hand Cannons of this kind. Considering Bungie's track record of surprising players with late-season Exotic Weapons and Armor, it would be premature for players to lose hope.
As the Season of the Deep comes to a close and makes room for Season 22, Bungie is gradually revealing more details about upcoming features, weapons, and activities to build excitement. Thus far, the studio has announced the release dates for the next reimagined raid in Destiny 2, alterations to Exotic Missions and their rewards, and more. Devoted players can look forward to two additional informative blog posts leading up to the highly anticipated showcase on August 22. Destiny 2 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
