Bungie has received criticism from Destiny 2 players for not providing the advertised weapons in its Lightfall DLC. Despite the introduction of a few new weapons in Destiny 2's Neomuna location, the game is still lacking the additional weapons depicted in its marketing materials and artwork.
The Lightfall DLC of Destiny 2 did not achieve the same level of success as the Witch Queen, leading to numerous player complaints about its campaign and story. Bungie attempted a new approach with this expansion by intentionally leaving many questions unanswered, with the intention of addressing them in future seasons. However, fans were not receptive to this strategy and many expressed disappointment with Lightfall, despite the addition of the new Strand subclass to explore. Consequently, players are now requesting an update from Bungie regarding the missing weapons that were featured in the advertising for Lightfall.
Reddit user KitsuneKamiSama noticed that five advertised weapons are missing from Destiny 2, as seen in the artwork for the Veil Containment Lightfall Campaign mission. These weapons, including a Pulse Rifle, LMG, Rocket Launcher, Sword, and Scout Rifle, are visible in the artwork but not available in the game. The Pulse Rifle resembles the Phyllotactic Spiral weapon, but upon closer examination, there are clear differences. The only weapon that players have actually obtained from this is the Epochal Integration Hand Cannon, which is rewarded upon completing the Parting the Veil mission.
This is not the first time Destiny 2 has failed to deliver on promised content. For example, Bungie was supposed to release a new set of playlist armor with each expansion, but this has not been done with Lightfall. Players have been asking for an update on this matter, but Bungie has not responded to their concerns. Additionally, players have been urging Bungie to provide an update on its plans for the Gambit game mode in Destiny 2, which has been neglected for over a year.
The game still suffers from several ongoing problems. One example is a persistent bug in the Solar subclass for Warlocks in Destiny 2 that has remained unfixed for over a year. Additionally, the Void subclass for Warlocks is currently bugged and fails to provide certain benefits to players when utilizing the Child of the Old Gods aspect. Furthermore, the game has been plagued by severe server issues since the release of Lightfall, posing yet another challenge to overcome.
Destiny 2 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
