Festival of the Lost is the annual Halloween event in Destiny 2. During this event, players can obtain a ritual mask from the event vendor, Eva Levante. While previous events have had additional mechanics, it seems that Bungie has implemented significant changes for this year's Festival of the Lost.

In their latest weekly Destiny 2 blog post, Bungie unveiled the exciting new features and rewards awaiting players during the Festival of the Lost. One of the highlights is the introduction of Eerie engrams, which can be obtained by completing Haunter Sectors. To add to the excitement, powerful Legend Haunted Sectors will also make their debut, providing an even greater chance of obtaining these coveted Eerie engrams. But that's not all! Bungie is also bringing forth Hocus Focusing, a unique feature that allows players to focus their Eerie engrams and acquire Festival of the Lost Weapons and Exotic Armor, all without the need for precious materials. Master Rahool will be your guide in unleashing the true potential of these Exotic Armor pieces.

In addition to this year's event, there will be a new Memento made of textured black leather. This item will be randomly obtained through Festival of the Lost activities. Bungie has also made some changes to the Checkmate game mode. They have reworked the damage of Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles, as well as reduced the frequency of Heavy ammo spawns. Furthermore, there will be updates to matchmaking and spawns in Crucible. Although these changes are minor, Destiny 2 Season 23 will bring broader PvP changes.

Season 23 will also introduce a new Iron Banner mode called Tribute, which draws inspiration from the current Supremacy mode. That's not all, as Season 23 of Destiny 2 will gradually phase out Legendary Shards in the game. These shards will be completely removed when the Final Shape expansion launches. Another interesting addition in Season 23 will be the Foundry Weapon focusing system. This system allows players to focus on Hakke, Omolon, Veist, and Suros weapons.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
