Revamped Seasonal Bonuses for Destiny 2Since its introduction in the Season of the Undying during the Shadowkeep expansion in 2019, the format for seasonal bonuses in Destiny 2 has remained relatively unchanged. However, after thirteen seasons, many players have begun to feel that the current format has become stagnant. In response, the developers have revamped the bonuses with new additions such as Deep Challenger, Deep Armor Focusing, and Synchronized Swimming, among others. These new bonuses promise to bring a fresh and exciting experience to Destiny 2 players.
Bungie has made efforts to introduce changes in Destiny 2 to avoid repetitive gameplay. One of the noticeable changes is the replacement of Vendor Upgrades with Seasonal Bonuses in Season of the Deep.
Vendor Upgrades have undergone a significant rework for Season of the Deep. The new Seasonal Bonuses tab on the Seasonal Challenges menu now consolidates all the Vendor Upgrades onto one page. These upgrades are transformed into unique Seasonal Challenges that award players with not only XP but also useful upgrades. These upgrades allow for things like focusing Deep Engrams and gaining bonus reputation, and there are a total of 10 Seasonal Bonuses available.
Be aware that certain Seasonal Bonuses are time-gated, and that not all Seasonal Bonuses can be earned within the first week of the Season.
Deep Challenger
By completing the first week of the 'Into the Depths' quest, players will unlock one of the initial Seasonal Bonuses in Season of the Deep. This bonus offers an extra Deep Engram as a reward for finishing a weekly Season of the Deep activity challenge. Don't forget to take advantage of it!
Deep Armor Focusing
In order to acquire Deep Armor Focusing, players must collect the entire set of Season of the Deep Armor, which includes five pieces (Head, Arms, Chest, Legs, and Class item). However, this process heavily relies on the RNG system and the extent to which players participate in seasonal activities like Salvage and Deep Dive. Once the set is obtained, players can unlock the capability to focus Deep Engrams into higher-stat armor.
To access the Seasonal Bonus, players must acquire six weapons introduced during Season of the Deep. This includes both the Taken variants of old Reckoning weapons and reissued versions. Once players have obtained the required weapons, they can focus Deep Engrams into one of them using the unlocked bonus. And don't forget, keep the placeholder
in the same position.
Synchronized Swimming
To earn the Seasonal Bonus, players must attain Rank 7 with the Sonar Station in the H.E.L.M. This can be achieved by completing the seasonal activities and fishing. It is advisable to use the respective keys for seasonal activities, as it significantly increases reputation gains. Moreover, players can unlock bonus reputation by opening chests at the end of seasonal activities with Seasonal Bonus.
The current Seasonal Bonus is identical to the previous one, except for the requirement of attaining Rank 13 with the Sonar Station. Once achieved, players will have an opportunity to receive an extra Deep Engram upon finishing various activities.
Efficient Angler
The Seasonal Bonus is linked with a recently introduced fishing task that is notably challenging to accomplish. In order to meet the requirements, players must catch fish with the highest possible catch bonus by utilizing the Focused Fishing buff, which is only triggered upon catching Legendary fish. The task is further complicated by the fact that players have only a limited time to make headway before the Fishing Pond vanishes due to a public event, causing the Focused Fishing buff to reset. Once completed, the Seasonal Bonus offers the opportunity to receive a refund for Bait used while catching fish.
Forgotten Treasures
Upon completing three jobs in the Salvage activity, players can earn a Seasonal Bonus. This task is simple and shouldn't take much time to complete. Once finished, players have the opportunity to receive an extra Deep Engram when they redeem a key.
Deepsight Salvaging
To gain access to the Seasonal Bonus, defeating both bosses in the Salvage activity is mandatory. Every week, players will encounter one of two bosses, Azshradat, Celebrant of Xivu Arath or Uorgotha, Scourge of the Deep. It will take at least two weeks for players to accomplish this Seasonal Challenge. Once achieved, the first weekly weapon-focused Engram at the Sonar Station will undoubtedly contain Deepsight Resonance.
Deep Sea Locksmith
When players complete the Deep Dive activity by defeating all three bosses, they can unlock the Seasonal Bonus. Similar to Salvage, the bosses rotate every three weeks, which means the Seasonal Bonus will also take the same amount of time to complete. Upon unlocking, redeeming a Salvage Key may award players with a Deep Dive Key. Don't forget to check out
Dive Station
for more exciting updates.
As of the writing of this guide, the Abyss depth in the Deep Dive activity is currently unavailable, preventing completion of the Seasonal Bonus. However, when it becomes available, completing an encounter here will fulfill the Challenge and unlock access to an ammo crate containing both Special and Heavy ammo. Additionally, completing this challenge will grant players extra objective time.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
