With each new season of Destiny 2, Bungie has been gradually introducing Catalysts for Exotic weapons in the game. These Catalysts are not only being added for new Exotics, but also for older ones. Although the number of Catalysts added per season may vary, the aim is to provide enhancements to some weapons that are not being utilized much.
In the Season of the Deep, the Malfeasance Exotic received a Catalyst. For Destiny 2 players who are interested in improving their Malfeasance, this guide will cover how to obtain the Malfeasance Catalyst and what it does.
.
To obtain the Malfeasance, players must complete the "Darkness in Light" Exotic quest. This quest can be acquired by winning a Gambit match, unlike other Exotic weapons that randomly drop. However, players should be prepared to tackle several challenging steps that require a premade Fireteam. The quest is time-consuming, but the reward is worth the effort.
To obtain the Malfeasance Catalyst, players must complete a unique version of The Corrupted strike in the Dreaming City that does not have matchmaking. This means players will need to either solo or bring a Fireteam as mentioned above. After completing the strike, players will need to invade in a Gambit match and eliminate the entire opposing team or have another player on their team achieve this in one invasion.
Once players obtain Malfeasance, they must complete Vanguard Ops, Crucible matches, or Gambit matches to have a chance at obtaining the Malfeasance Catalyst. This Catalyst is a random drop from these playlists, but it is not guaranteed. Some players may get lucky and have it drop after one activity, while others may have to wait weeks or even months to obtain it. It is important to note that the drop rate does not change, even in difficult activities such as Nightfall or Grandmaster Nightfall.
The Malfeasance Catalyst provides a number of benefits to the weapon, including increased stability and range. Additionally, it grants the ability to spawn Spheres of Infamy on defeating combatants with the weapon. These Spheres can be picked up by teammates to grant them a damage boost, making the Malfeasance a valuable asset in team-based activities.
The Catalyst for Malfeasance is a game-changer, unlike some previous Catalysts that didn't add much to the Exotic. With the new Catalyst, Malfeasance gains an impressive 20-point increase in Range as well as the Vorpal Weapon trait. For those who haven't encountered Vorpal Weapon before, it's a powerful trait that boosts damage against bosses, vehicles, and enemy players with active supers.
Naturally, acquiring the Catalyst requires players to rack up enough kills with Malfeasance first. While it may take some time to reach the kill count, the benefits of Vorpal Weapon make it well worth the effort.
