Bungie has unveiled the latest Seasonal Artifact Mods for Destiny 2 Season 22. The season's name is still a mystery, but more details will be disclosed during the upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase, along with the Final Shape expansion.
Following the events of the Lightfall campaign in Destiny 2, the Guardians are currently facing difficulties in their pursuit of The Witness, who entered the Traveler through a portal created with the aid of The Veil. However, in Season of the Deep, the Guardians discovered that they will require assistance from Savathun in order to overcome The Witness, with the help of Sloane and a sea creature named Ahsa. Now, Bungie has revealed the new Artifacts Mods that players will have at their disposal to combat the impending threats.
Bungie began by highlighting their current focus of allowing players to personalize their playing style through the introduction of new Artifact Mods. To accomplish this, Bungie is introducing sandbox features called "Elemental Orbs," which draw inspiration from Strand Tangles. These orbs will be generated when players defeat enemies using Arc, Solar, or Void weapons. Destiny 2 had previously introduced Elemental Orbs during the Solstice of Heroes event, where Guardians were able to generate and collect these orbs to enhance their abilities. However, the upcoming Elemental Orbs will offer a new twist as players can now pick them up and hurl them at enemies, resulting in a Jolt, Scorch, or Volatile effect based on the orb type.
Bungie has provided details about the Artifact Mods that will be introduced in Destiny 2 Season 22. The new additions include Unstoppable Fusion Rifles, Piercing Bowstring, and Overload Machine Guns. These mods are centered around the recently added Elemental Orbs. However, there is currently no Artifact Mod available for the Stasis subclass. Bungie has acknowledged a bug that prevents Overload Machine Gun and Hand Cannon mods from overcharging the weapons, but it will be addressed in an upcoming patch.
In addition to the Artifact Mods, Destiny 2 Season 22 will feature an Exotic Mission Rotator. This will bring back some beloved Exotic missions that were previously unavailable due to content vaulting. Bungie also plans to make changes to the in-game economy and introduce new weapons. Furthermore, Season 22 will introduce a reprised raid, speculated to be Crota’s End, which is set to launch on September 1, 2023.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
