Fortunately, Destiny 2 players have options beyond relying on luck to obtain Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys. While the drop rate for these keys is low, players can earn them through the Season Pass. By reaching Rank 12, players can obtain a Salvage Key, and at Rank 24, a Deep Dive Key becomes available. Additionally, players can acquire two more keys at Ranks 52 and 92. Those who reach Rank 7 and Rank 13 with the Sonar Station can also obtain two keys. The good news is that obtaining these keys is no longer necessary to complete weekly story quests.

How to Use Salvage Keys & Deep Dive Keys

If players possess a Salvage Key or Deep Dive Key during Salvage or Deep Dives activities, the key will be utilized when they loot the chest at the end of the activity. However, it is important to keep in mind that Weekly Challenges for these activities do not require both Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys for completion.

Using a Salvage Key or Deep Dive Key during the respective activity significantly enhances the rewards contained inside the chest at the end of the activity. For instance, in the absence of a key during the Salvage activity, players receive around 40 Reputation with the Sonar Station, one Seasonal armor/weapon, and Bait if fishing has been unlocked. However, if players possess the Salvage Key while completing the Salvage activity, they will receive over 200 Reputation and have a much higher likelihood of obtaining a Deep Engram.
