The Final Shape introduces new Light Supers for Titans, such as Twilight Arsenal, offering both support and ranged capabilities for those who prefer long-range combat.
Twilight Arsenal fills a void in the Titans' arsenal, offering more choices for collaborative gameplay and making them even more formidable in endgame scenarios, thus enhancing their class's power fantasy.
Destiny 2 has undergone significant changes from its early days. Initially, players had limited options to customize their playstyle, but now there is a wide range of choices available. This includes weapon perks, Origin Traits, subclasses with Aspects and Fragments, and more. The latest addition, Destiny 2's Strand, has been hailed as a savior for Lightfall, following its initial poor reviews. While The Final Shape will not introduce a new Darkness subclass, it will bring new tools for all classes. Titan players, in particular, can look forward to a long-awaited power fantasy.
One major criticism of Destiny 2's Strand Titan builds was their lack of unique themes and playstyles. Over time, each class developed its own set of tropes. For example, Hunter Exotics and abilities tend to focus more on PvP rather than PvE content. Despite some new additions in The Final Shape, this trend remains largely unchanged. However, Titans may be receiving one of their best tools yet, turning the discussions around class balance and design upside down.
Why Destiny 2's Titans Needed The Final Shape's New Void Super
Some argue that Titans in Destiny 2 are facing a melee issue, with many of their Exotics, Aspects, and Fragments centered around melee damage. This limits the variety of playstyles for those looking to experiment. Strand perfectly exemplified this issue, as players have been requesting a non-melee, non-roaming Super for a while, especially after the introduction of Stasis. However, Lightfall offered a different solution.
Fortunately, during the Bungie Showcase, new Light Supers for The Final Shape were announced, indicating that the studio has taken players' feedback into account regarding Titan toolkits. Void Titans will receive a new Aspect and Super. The Super allows players to throw three powerful Void-infused axes at enemies from a distance, with an instant-cast ability. Additionally, these axes will pulse, drawing nearby enemies towards them. Players or their allies can then retrieve these axes, further enhancing their destructive capabilities.
Destiny 2's upcoming update, The Final Shape, introduces a new Super for Titans called Twilight Arsenal. This Super offers both a ranged and non-roaming option, providing versatility in gameplay. It brings value to group play by allowing Titans to pull enemies and allies to pick up axes. This Super not only caters to supportive playstyles but also satisfies the desire for long-range combat. These power fantasies have been largely unexplored by the Titan class. With the recent collaboration with PlayStation, which includes a Kratos-inspired armor set, the need for this new power fantasy is further reinforced. The current options for ranged Supers are limited and inferior to other damage-dealing tools available to Titans, such as Synthoceps or Heart of Inmost Light for Exotics. Twilight Arsenal is a perfect fit for the current state of the Titan class and sets the stage for future gameplay innovations in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
