A Destiny 2 player has transformed their Hunter into a likeness of Megamind, the beloved character from DreamWorks' hit film. They accomplished this feat using Destiny 2's transmog system, which grants players the ability to convert armor pieces into purely cosmetic items.
Introduced in 2021 with the Season of the Splicer, the current Armor Synthesis system has been met with both appreciation and criticism from the Destiny 2 community. While players welcomed the addition of this feature, many found the process of unlocking their desired armor pieces to be tiresome. Presently, players can obtain a maximum of 10 bounties per season from Ada-1 in the Tower. These bounties reward players with Synthweave, a resource used to transmog one piece of armor. Although players have been vocal about their desire for an increase in the 10 Synthweave cap, Bungie, the game's developer, has yet to address this concern. Despite this limitation, players have demonstrated their creative prowess by crafting intriguing appearances, such as one fan's transformation of their Hunter into a popular DreamWorks character.
Over on the Destiny Fashion subreddit, user Whole_Place_4705 shared their impressive creation with the community. They designed their Hunter to bear a striking resemblance to the villain-turned-hero, Megamind. In the movie, Megamind boasts a large blue head and wears a black cloak, and Whole_Place_4705 expertly recreated these iconic features. By donning the Wing Contender helmet and utilizing the Epipelagic shader in Destiny 2, they achieved the desired blue-headed look. Fellow community members admired this recreation and even offered suggestions to further enhance the character's resemblance to the original.
Since the introduction of the transmog system, players have been engaging in experimental fashion choices, replicating characters from various forms of media. For example, one player successfully modeled their Hunter after Jim Carrey's character from The Mask. Additionally, another player transformed their Titan in Destiny 2 into a whimsical Winnie the Pooh, while a fan created a look inspired by Dark Souls.
In an effort to enhance their usefulness, Bungie is revamping a number of Exotic armor pieces. Furthermore, they will introduce an Exotic mission rotation system in Destiny 2 Season 22, along with various quality of life improvements. Additionally, Bungie has scheduled a showcase on August 22, 2023, where they will divulge more information about their upcoming DLC, The Final Shape. Destiny 2 can currently be played on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
