Bungie's most recent weekly update for Destiny 2 has unveiled an exciting teaser for the next season: the exotic hand cannon Thorn will be receiving a Catalyst. The update shared details about the enhancements the Catalyst will provide to this popular weapon and confirmed its release in Season 23.
In Destiny 2, Catalysts are utilized to amplify the power of exotic weapons and frequently introduce new functionalities. For instance, the Monte Carlo Catalyst was introduced during the Season of the Witch, enabling players to utilize the weapon's bayonet through the addition of the Stochastic Vengeance perk.
Bungie has confirmed that the upcoming Thorn Catalyst will not allow players to physically stab others with it. However, they have unveiled an exciting new enhancement that will be available. The Catalyst will significantly improve Thorn's range and stability, while also introducing a unique bonus. By delivering a final blow or absorbing a Remnant, players will be granted additional weapon range, as well as enhanced mobility and handling for a brief period.
Bungie has not yet disclosed the exact method of obtaining the Thorn Catalyst when it becomes available next season. In the current season, the Monte Carlo Catalyst can be obtained as a random drop from Strikes, Gambit matches, or Crucible matches. It is conceivable that a similar approach may be required to acquire the Thorn Catalyst. However, Bungie may choose to take a different route for what they consider to be "arguably one of the most iconic Exotic Hand Cannons in Destiny."
In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie has patched a number of substantial bugs involving weapon crafting in its latest update, as well as adding a new Crucible mode and a Master Crota's End raid.
