Warlocks are dominating the Strand subclasses in Destiny 2, when compared to Titans and Hunters. The class has consistently outperformed the others with its impressive ranged abilities, and the latest update has only taken Warlocks to new heights. With Season of the Deep, Warlocks have gained access to some incredibly powerful options for building their Strand subclass. Despite initial assumptions that other subclasses would take over the meta, the Strand subclasses continue to reign supreme, with Elemental Surges, Elemental weapons, and Seasonal Artifact mods all contributing to their success. Season 21 has also introduced new Aspects for the Strand subclasses, further bolstering their strength. Once again, Warlocks have come out on top in the Strand meta for Season 21.
Warlocks and Strand Builds are Still Meta in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep
In the previous season of Destiny 2, Warlocks had the advantage over other classes due to their ability to create Threadlings in various ways through their Strand subclasses. While other subclasses can also create Threadlings, Warlocks have the most reliable methods, and their super, Needlestorm, is focused on creating a barrage of powerful Strand missiles and Threadlings. With the use of universal buffs and the abundance of Threadling creation methods, Warlocks were the dominant class in the previous season and continue to be in the current Season of the Deep, especially with the introduction of new Aspects. Despite the nerfing of fan-favorite Starfire Protocol builds, Warlock builds remain strong and are particularly dominant in the latest Strand subclass builds. The new Strand Aspect, The Wanderer, adds increased utility to Strand Tangles and Threadlings. Threadlings can now generate Tangles, and Tangles can suspend targets. The synergy between Tangles and Threadlings, along with their already high base-damage outputs, creates immense potential for Warlocks to apply Strand debuffs and elemental reactions with ease.
Strand Has Generous Buildcrafting Potential in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep
The Strand subclass has remained strong even without the training wheels that were originally provided by Lightfall's campaign. This is due to the new artifact mods introduced in Season 21, which continue to focus on enhancing the Strand subclass. The Authorized Strand Mods, Improved Unraveling, Strand Soldier, and Conductive Cosmic Needle are among the top mods for players looking to maximize their Strand builds. Additionally, the catalog of Strand weaponry is constantly expanding and remains a crucial component of the subclass. The latest addition, the Navigator Exotic trace rifle from Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon, can be especially devastating in the hands of a skilled Broodweaver Strand Warlock. While other Strand subclasses in Destiny 2 may pale in comparison, the Broodweaver Warlock remains king thanks to their ability to consistently apply debuffs and elemental reactions with ease, especially with the new tools available in Season of the Deep.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
