Titans and Hunters are set to receive their own unique version of the "Necrotic Grip" exotic gauntlet in a future Destiny 2 update, following the popularity of Warlocks' access to the item since its release in the Beyond Light expansion. Although the drop rate for Necrotic Grip has been low, players who have obtained it have praised its ability to quickly clear rooms of enemies. The exotic perk allows Warlocks to poison one enemy with a melee attack, potentially infecting others nearby. Due to the positive reception from the community and demand to see it on other characters, Bungie intends to expand the concept to Titans and Hunters.
Bungie recently revealed during a Q&A session that it plans to introduce Destiny 2 exotics with similar abilities to the Necrotic Grip for the Titan and Hunter. As the Necrotic Grip complements the Weapons of Sorrow, it's likely that the new counterparts will also work optimally with specific gear sets. However, while the developer intends to expand the Necrotic Grip concept to other Destiny 2 classes, it also wants to retain the unique and elusive nature of these items, which adds to the excitement of looting them.
Bungie acknowledges the strong attachment players have to their exotic items and is taking feedback from the Warlock community to determine the best approach for introducing the Necrotic Grip ability to Hunters and Titans. However, with other highly sought-after exotics like The Navigator, Cenotaph Mask, and Izanagi's Burden, players may have less incentive to choose Warlocks if the unique ability of Necrotic Grip is no longer exclusive to their class. To address this, Bungie may consider offering Warlocks a new exotic with its own special ability or one that complements alternate gear, in order to keep the community satisfied.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
