After the most recent Destiny 2 update, players have noticed that the exotic fusion rifle, Telesto, no longer performs as it did before. Telesto has a reputation for causing issues in the game, as each bolt it fires is considered unique by the game's engine. This behavior has led to game crashes, invulnerability to damage for allies, and the breaking of certain game mechanics, such as the Blind Well activity in the Dreaming City.
Bungie has often fixed the weapon in the past, but recently Telesto has remained unchanged for a significant period of time. However, Destiny 2 Update 7.1.0.3 made a slight adjustment to Telesto, as well as the Sweet Business auto rifle, to prevent their explosive rounds from damaging enemies through walls or objects. Although this change may seem minor, players have noticed that Telesto now feels different from its usual performance.
A Destiny 2 subReddit user named Treatments_157 recently started a thread discussing an issue with the Telesto weapon. Identified as an enthusiastic user of Telesto in both PvE and PvP activities, Treatment decided to run some tests after noticing a discrepancy with the gun following the latest Destiny 2 update.
Treatment's tests revealed that the fix mentioned by Bungie may have focused on increasing the hit box for Telesto bolts to attach to objects, while leaving the splash damage hitbox unchanged. Consequently, the issue of damage clipping seems to have been resolved. However, an unintended side effect is that the bolts now hover higher than before, resulting in reduced penetration and increased spacing between them.
This change has led to higher inconsistency in damage and has made it even more challenging for the bolts to connect with the intended target. Although this issue is not as significant as previous Telesto-related problems in Destiny 2, Treatment's claims were corroborated by numerous other users in the comments section who also experienced similar issues after the update.
According to the comments, it appears that Bungie indirectly addressed the issue rather than directly fixing it. While this workaround may be effective for conventional bullets used in weapons like Sweet Business, it is not well-suited for the bolt-launching Telesto.
Meanwhile, players have also begun to encounter an increase in server instability, causing frustration for an online-only game. Concerned about being abruptly removed from an event, activity, or challenging content, players have expressed their worries. However, Bungie has taken note of these issues and is actively working towards resolving the surging server problems in Destiny 2. The company emphasizes that resolving these issues is not a simple task, as addressing them incorrectly could potentially inflict further damage upon the game itself.
Currently, Destiny 2 is accessible on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
