The Untold Secrets of Stellaron Hunter Sam in Honkai Star Rail

Discover the enigmatic Stellaron Hunter, Sam, in Honkai: Star Rail Unveiling the secrets of their identity, abilities, and role in the epic battle against the Honkai menace Dive into the thrilling world of Sam, the missing piece of the Stellaron Hunter trio

The Stellaron Hunters in Honkai: Star Rail are an enigmatic group led by Elio. Their primary objective is to gather Stellarons, also referred to as the "cancer of all worlds," throughout the universe. As a result, they are pursued by the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC), positioning them as one of the game's central adversaries.

Aside from Elio, Honkai: Star Rail features three well-known Stellaron Hunters: Kafka, Blade, and Silver Wolf. All of them are playable characters. In the game's opening, players encounter Kafka and Silver Wolf, with Kafka being responsible for rousing the Trailblazer from a deep slumber. However, there remains another Stellaron Hunter who has yet to make an appearance in Honkai: Star Rail.

Who is Honkai: Star Rail's Mysterious Stellaron Hunter?

The Untold Secrets of Stellaron Hunter Sam in Honkai Star Rail

In the Factions category of Honkai: Star Rail's Data Bank, there is mention of a Stellaron Hunter named Sam. Silver Wolf also references Sam when players encounter her hologram on the Astral Express after completing the Starhunt Game event and companion mission. However, little is currently known about Sam's identity.

At present, there are no photos of Sam and they are considered to be a leaked but unused character in Honkai: Star Rail. Rumors suggest that Sam is a five-star Fire-type unit who follows the Path of Destruction, possessing HP-draining abilities similar to fellow Stellaron Hunter Blade. Some players speculate that Sam may even surpass the power of Kafka or Blade, particularly given the secrecy surrounding their identity. As of now, no specific release timeframe has been announced for Sam.

Another theory circulating is that Sam might actually be Sampo, the clever merchant encountered by players in Jarilo-VI. Sampo is a playable Wind character who holds the prestigious title of a four-star character following the Path of Nihility. In the game, players would frequently come across Sampo as he travels between Belobog City and the Underworld, ensuring that members of the Wildfire group are equipped with weapons and supplies to defend themselves against Fragmentum monsters. However, Sampo also has a reputation as a notorious thief, often swindling his "customers," which is why Gepard and the Silvermane Guards are always looking to apprehend him.

Whenever Sampo makes an appearance in Honkai: Star Rail, he adds a touch of humor with his quick-witted comebacks. However, he remains somewhat of an enigma as he seems to vanish just as he is about to be caught. This is one of the reasons people believe that Sampo could be the same person as Sam the Stellaron Hunter, considering their matching names. It raises the question of whether Sampo has been involved in more sinister activities behind the scenes or prior to the events in Honkai: Star Rail. Additionally, it is possible that Sampo may have a five-star counterpart, similar to Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae.

The theory that Sampo was a Stellaron Hunter gained further support when he was featured as a four-star unit in Kafka's banner in Version 1.2. Some may argue that this could be a mere coincidence, as Honkai: Star Rail selects four-star characters based on their synergies with the five-star banner unit. Given that Kafka is also a Path of Nihility character, it would make sense for Sampo to be included in the lineup for maximum damage over time (DOT) against enemies.

Since Honkai: Star Rail is a relatively new game, there is still much for players to discover in the coming months, including the backstories of all characters, including Sampo and Sam. For now, players will have to wait to confirm the theories regarding the enigmatic Stellaron Hunter. If these theories prove true, Honkai: Star Rail players can expect an exciting story to unfold in the future.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices with a PlayStation version in development.
