The Festival of the Lost event, Halloween-themed content for Destiny 2, is now live until November 8th. Since October 2021, Festival of the Lost has undergone significant changes, including the introduction of Spectral Pages, a seasonal currency. Players can acquire these unique pages by defeating Headless Ones in Haunted Sectors. As players progress, they will need to collect an increasing number of pages to unlock entries in the Book of the Forgotten, which can be found at the tower next to Eva Levante. Here is a guide on how Destiny 2 players can efficiently farm Spectral Pages.
Updated on October 17, 2023, by Paul Woodward: Festival of the Lost has become an expected yearly event in Destiny 2. While the community's reception to the festival may vary, there's no denying that the Tower's decorations and music create a festive atmosphere for the spookiest time of the year. For the most part, Festival of the Lost has remained largely unchanged since its 2021 overhaul. However, there is now a new weapon, Horror Story, with desirable rolls that make it worth pursuing. Players can also challenge themselves by venturing into Haunted Sectors on a higher difficulty. Before delving into these sectors, it is crucial for players to ensure they have gathered enough Spectral Pages, as they are needed to obtain Manifested Pages.
How to Get Spectral Pages
Destiny 2 players will receive three initial pages when starting the introduction quest. To obtain more Spectral Pages, players must complete activities in the game, similar to the previous year. However, there's a catch.
To ensure that pages drop after completing an activity, players must wear a Festival of the Lost mask. During the introduction quest, players are given a helmet resembling a creepy paper mache mask of Master Rahool. Alternatively, players can use other Festival of the Lost ornaments they have unlocked instead of the default appearance of Master Rahool. The specific mask being worn is purely a cosmetic decision and does not affect gameplay.
How to Get Manifested Pages
Manifested Pages can only be acquired through the acquisition of Spectral Pages during encounters in Haunted Sectors. Whenever Destiny 2 players successfully eliminate a Headless One within a Haunted Sector, a Spectral Page will be converted into a Manifested Page. These Manifested Pages can then be redeemed at the book located on the right side of Eva Levante in the Tower. Therefore, players looking to obtain more Manifested Pages should prioritize collecting as many Spectral Pages as possible.
How Many Spectral Pages Do Players Get Per Activity?
The acquisition of Spectral Pages in the game varies greatly depending on the activity. While almost every activity offers the opportunity to obtain these pages, the quantity received differs significantly. Less risky and smaller activities yield fewer Spectral Pages, whereas activities with higher risk offer a greater reward in terms of Spectral Pages.
For instance, participating in Public Events in different Destinations will grant only two pages. However, engaging in core playlist activities such as Gambit, Strikes, and Crucible will provide up to three pages. Additionally, seasonal activities have the potential to award up to four pages, while Nightfall Strikes generously reward five pages. Thus, regardless of players' preferred activities, there are numerous avenues to acquire Spectral Pages.
How to Farm Spectral Pages
Not all methods of earning Spectral Pages in Destiny 2 during the Festival of the Lost are equally efficient. Although solo players might opt for Public Events as an easy way to obtain Spectral Pages, it is not the most efficient method. Previously, lower tier Nightfalls were a reliable option for farming Spectral Pages, but the introduction of Adept difficulty has changed this. The key to quickly farming Spectral Pages lies in choosing activities that can be completed swiftly. While Nightfalls can still provide a decent amount of Spectral Pages, they can take longer to finish and may become slower if any issues arise, resulting in a wipe.
Participating in the Vanguard Ops playlists offers a swift and effective method to gather Spectral Pages in a low-risk environment. While each completion may only yield three pages, they are significantly quicker to accomplish compared to Nightfalls. This is particularly true in Vanguard Ops if a prearranged group joins in, eliminating the need to wait for Matchmaking. It is entirely possible for a proficient Fireteam equipped with top-tier gear to acquire more than 20 Spectral Pages per hour by engaging in strike farming within Vanguard Ops.
Destiny 2 is currently accessible on the Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
