The Epic Resurgence of Destiny 2's Ultimate Villain Will Leave You Breathless

A formidable foe from Destiny 2 returns, but this time, they may join forces with the Guardians as an unexpected ally Get ready for an epic twist in the battle against darkness

After a year-long absence, Savathun, The Witch Queen, is making her return to Destiny 2. The timing of this reappearance adds an exciting twist to the game's storyline, considering how the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion concluded.

Savathun, one of the three Hive Gods in Destiny 2, was previously regarded as one of the game's primary antagonists until The Witness was introduced. In last year's Destiny 2 Witch Queen DLC, Savathun cleverly deceived the Traveler into granting her Light powers, making her nearly invincible. Fortunately, the Guardians successfully halted her progress during the campaign, although her Ghost managed to escape, leaving her physical form behind. This obvious setup indicates that she will inevitably return. Finally, with the introduction of this week's story mission in Season of the Deep, it has been officially confirmed that The Witch Queen will be making her comeback soon.

As per Forbes, players were required to free Ahsa from Xivu Arath's grip on Titan as part of the weekly mission. Shortly after, through Sloane, Ahsa divulged that in order to defeat The Witness, the Guardians would need to bring back The Witch Queen, Savathun. Currently, Savathun's body is in the possession of the Vanguard, where Eris Morn is conducting experiments on it. However, Savathun's Ghost, Immaru, is still missing, indicating a season-long effort to retrieve it. This resurgence of Savathun could have significant implications on Destiny 2's upcoming DLC, The Final Shape.

The previous mission in Destiny 2 shed light on the origins of The Witness and their ultimate objective. Despite gaining knowledge about their enemy, the Guardians have been unable to reach The Witness and all attempts to pursue them through the Veil have failed. With no promising ideas left, Commander Zavala is considering Ahsa's proposal to resurrect Savathun, despite objections from Lord Saladin and Saint 14.

However, resurrecting Savathun comes with its own risks. She successfully deceived the Guardians for a significant period by masquerading as Osiris, showcasing her expertise in manipulation and making it difficult for the Guardians to trust her completely in their upcoming battle. Nevertheless, as Savathun's arrival in Destiny 2 becomes inevitable, it is plausible that she will align herself with the Guardians against The Witness and potentially assist them in finding a way to interact with The Veil.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
