Teyana Taylor Praises Anna Wintour's Inclusivity for Allowing Her to Bring Food to the Met Gala
Teyana Taylor praises Anna Wintour as a ‘true ally’ for not barring her from the Met Gala despite her repeated act of bringing fast food, fearing she might face a ban
At the 2023 and 2022 Met Gala, Teyana Taylor opted for food over fashion. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 29, the 32-year-old singer and actress confessed to bringing fast food to the exclusive event, including Chick-fil-A and Popeyes.
At the recent event, Pusha T amusingly exposed Taylor's fast food meal, with Taylor chowing down on chicken tenders and fries. Usher Raymond, who passed by, burst into laughter seeing her eating. Despite her worries about being banned, Taylor later admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that Anna Wintour allowed her to bring her own food to the event.
Taylor, revealed, however, that she isn’t actually certain that Wintour, 74, was privy to her tasty contraband.
Teyana Taylor was present at The 2023 Met Gala in honor of ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty’ at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 1, 2023. She jokingly told Kimmel, "She probably found out now because you’re snitching. You brought this up. I didn’t bring this up. So, if I don’t get invited back, Jimmy, we gotta have a talk."
Taylor revealed that she managed to sneak in the treats by having designer Thom Browne make a purse with enough room for her goodies, as her tweed skirt suit exposed her bare hips. She expressed her current approach, stating "So this is what I’m doing now. When I’m collaborating with the designer, I have them design a bag — shout out to Thom Browne because he made sure my bag [this past] year was a big flower so it was enough to fit the food."

Taylor’s viral moment at the party didn't just come from her fast food. While speaking to reporters, she had difficulty walking up the steps of the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art and needed assistance from a handler. At one point, she had to hop up the walkway due to difficulty moving her feet. A video shared by Essence magazine showed her jumping over several landings before striking a pose. "I gotta pee," Taylor humorously told the publication, and expressed her hope that she wouldn't "pop out" of her outfit when she arrived. (In addition to Taylor, other celebrities wearing Thom Browne included Jenna Ortega, Janelle Monae, Olivia Rodrigo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Alexander Skarsgård.)
