Jennifer Garner revealed that her first Met Gala experience was "scary," prompting her to opt out of attending the prestigious event again. The 51-year-old shared her low-maintenance beauty routine in a recent episode of Vogue's "Beauty Secrets" YouTube series on Monday, December 11.

The soirée that year had a theme based on "Poiret: King of Fashion". She arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a stunning strapless red Valentino gown, walking alongside the founder of the fashion house, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani. Garner described the gown as "magical" and expressed her feelings of being Valentino's date as "majestic and special."

Garner also revealed her preference for a streamlined yet effective skincare routine in the video. She initiated her routine by utilizing Rationale’s The PreCleanse Balm to remove makeup from her face. Following that, she cleansed with Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Cleanser and exfoliated using YSE Beauty’s Your Favorite Ex Exfoliating Pads.

"I suffered from hormonal acne in my youth and that's when I developed a strong interest in skincare," Garner revealed while washing her face. She also expressed her enthusiasm for the effects of hyaluronic acid, which is present in the Hydro Boost Cleanser. "It retains and seals moisture on the skin's surface, giving it a plump appearance," she explained.

While applying Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Moisturizer, Garner, a Neutrogena ambassador for over ten years, expressed her preference for a quick beauty routine. "I love taking care of myself, but most of the time I'm focused on getting it done as fast as possible - whether it's skincare or self-care," she said. "You can't always take your time. Sometimes you just need to get ready or go to bed."

Despite Garner's preference for quickly completing tasks, she doesn't compromise on the quality of the product. "Sunscreen is always a must," Garner emphasized as she gently applied Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen on her face and chest. "Layering on that SPF is crucial. I didn't take SPF seriously when I was younger."

Sharing words of advice, Garner stressed, “Nothing looks better in your fifties than sunscreen in your twenties, ladies. You heard it here first.”

After that, Garner began applying her makeup, beginning with the Foundation Stick from Westman Atelier. "I just apply it to areas with a bit of redness," she explained. Using a brush, she effortlessly blended the product to create a smooth, dewy base.

"I'm not really one to do my own makeup," she confessed humbly as she moved on to Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream and Stila's Convertible Color Lip & Cheek Cream Blush. "Look at who's coming to life!" she joked.

Garner then used Surratt’s Relevee Lash Curler and Westman Atelier’s Eye Want You Mascara to enhance her lashes before discussing the beauty habits she hopes to pass on to her children. "All I care about is that my kids wash their face at night and wear SPF. Other than that, it's up to them," Garner said. (She has daughters Violet, 18, and Seraphina, 14, and son Samuel, 11, with ex-husband Ben Affleck.)

To finish her routine, Garner applied Hermés Rouge Matte Lipstick and Byredo’s Gypsy Water perfume.
