Jenna Lyons is still not over the dress she wore to the 2011 Met Gala.
Lyons, 55, stated during a tour of her SoHo apartment with Vogue on Monday, July 24 that she was unsure if an introduction was necessary for the white feather-adorned gown. She added that the dress had received significant attention. The Real Housewives of New York City star expressed her excitement for attending the annual ball for the first time and wearing the unique design. Additionally, she mentioned that she left feathers throughout the length of the red carpet.
That evening, Lyons paired the dress, which featured a round neckline and spaghetti straps with a beige sweater, with a red lip and dangling earrings.
Lyons, who normally doesn't wear white to weddings, made an exception for Solange Knowles' wedding to Alan Ferguson in New Orleans in 2014. A paparazzi captured her as she was entering the church, and the resulting photo gained international attention. Lyons revealed that the garment she wore was hand-beaded and hand-embroidered by a renowned company called Shameza, known for their exquisite work with brands like Oscar de la Renta and Chanel. The intricate beading on the piece is incredibly delicate and impressive.
In the video, Lyons also proudly showcased another cherished item of clothing.
"This puffer jacket is actually a product of my senior project," she proudly exclaimed, showcasing a stunning bronze-colored creation. "During my time at Parsons, I had the privilege of receiving critique from Donna Karan herself. As I was working on this duchess satin jacket, she questioned whether I could transform it into something more down-to-earth using felt."
Lyons continued, reflecting on this momentous encounter: "To be honest, as a 19-year-old with limited funds, I wasn't quite sure how to proceed. So, I took matters into my own hands. I visited Bed, Bath and Beyond, where I purchased a comforter. Through meticulous double stitching and feather removal, this incredible piece emerged as the final result."
“Can you believe I made this thing?”
After Parsons, Lyons went on to establish herself as a fashionable force to be reckoned with.
From 2010 until April 2017, she held the positions of executive creative director and president at J.Crew. Her contributions to the company include elevating the retailer with sophisticated evening wear and refined casual style. Following her departure, Lyons entered the beauty industry with the launch of LoveSeen, a brand specializing in faux lashes. In a more recent development, she made her first appearance on the revamped Real Housewives of New York City, alongside Jessel Taank, Erin Dana Lichy, Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, and Brynn Whitfield.
