In Season of the Deep for Destiny 2, players have access to a variety of new and returning weapons, including the highly sought-after Epochal Integration hand cannon. Additionally, the season introduced the Mercurial Overreach sniper rifle, which is exclusive to Crucible matches and boasts impressive stats and perk combinations. Despite being a random drop with random perks, this rifle is quickly gaining popularity in PvP modes and is expected to see increased use during the upcoming Trials of Osiris event.
Destiny 2's PvP Meta Could be About to Change Thanks to Season 21's New Sniper Rifle
Mercurial Overreach is a sniper rifle that boasts impressive base stats, with a range of 65, stability of 54, handling of 52, reload speed of 50, recoil of 75, and aim assistance of 63. With popular traits like Smallbore or Fluted Barrel and Ricochet Rounds, players can easily achieve all main stats over 70, particularly when utilizing a Fitted Stock and Handling Masterwork. Furthermore, the third column offers coveted perks such as Snapshot Sights and Surplus, with the former being a favorite among sniper enthusiasts and the latter providing an extra boost to the already impressive stats. The fourth column features game-changing perks like Vorpal Weapon, Moving Target, and the highly sought-after Opening Shot, making Mercurial Overreach a formidable contender in any Crucible match. However, what truly sets this weapon apart is the addition of a new perk in the third column: Discord.
When activated by getting kills with a different weapon, Discord acts as a counterpart to the perk Harmony, both in name and effect. It offers increased accuracy, speed when aiming down sights, and airborne effectiveness. What really sets Discord apart, however, is its ability to refund ammo on final blows with any weapon it's attached to, similar to the now-lost relic, Revoker. While this caused balance issues in the past, Discord only refunds ammo on the final blow, eliminating the ability to miss shots and still maintain ammo supplies. Despite this, it still allows for chaining kills as long as enough enemies are defeated with the weapon. While it may not become the most popular perk on the Mercurial Overreach, it's likely to see significant use in Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris, potentially changing the meta.
Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
