Acquiring Fishing Tackle and Bait in Season of the Deep

The latest season of Destiny 2, Season of the Deep, is all about undersea exploration. As players dive into the depths of Titan's methane oceans, they'll come across a surprising new activity: fishing. To get started, you'll need to obtain fishing tackle and bait.

Players can now swap out their weapons for a fishing rod in Destiny 2's latest activity, Fishing. With three different destinations to explore (EDZ, Nessus, and Savathun's Throne World), players have access to a diverse range of fish, totaling 28 different species (excluding the elusive Exotic Fish). However, before embarking on a fishing adventure, players must first complete a quest to obtain the necessary Fishing Tackle.

How to Obtain the Fishing Tackle

The Fishing Tackle in Destiny 2 serves as a convenient item for tracking the number of fish caught and the amount of Bait collected for fishing. It's worth noting that players can only carry up to 500 fish and 500 Bait. However, at the start of the Season of the Deep, players do not have the Fishing Tackle in their possession. To acquire it, players must first complete the intro mission, which sets the stage for the rest of the story.

Destiny 2 players will need to complete the first week of the "Into the Depths" quest, which will introduce them to Salvage and Deep Dive seasonal activities. Upon completion, players will receive the Fishing Tackle and be directed to speak with Hawthorne in the Tower. After speaking with her, players must gather 20 Bait and head to the Outskirts in the EDZ to catch five fish. The quality of the fish is irrelevant for this quest step. Once that is done, players need to catch five fish in Nessus and then head to Savathun's Throne World to catch another five fish.

Players can continue their fishing journey in Destiny 2 by utilizing the fish tank in the newly opened wing of the H.E.L.M. Once players catch a fish they haven't caught before, they can release it into the tank for future rewards. Even if they have already caught a certain fish, turning it in can still result in rewards such as Glimmer and reputation with the Sonar Station.

Using Bait in fishing may not be mandatory, but it can greatly increase the likelihood of catching better quality fish. There are various ways to obtain Bait, including engaging in seasonal activities, completing patrol missions, looting destination materials, participating in playlist activities, and joining public events. However, the most effective way to acquire Bait is by successfully completing heroic public events, which can yield up to eight pieces of Bait.
