Reeling in the Changes: Fans Call for Major Upgrades to Destiny 2's Fishing Mini-Game

Destiny 2's latest season has introduced a new fishing minigame, but fans are urging for improvements to make it more rewarding and engaging

Destiny 2's latest season, Season of the Deep, presents a new fishing minigame that offers decent rewards for Guardians who participate. However, fans have already shared their creative suggestions to enhance the mechanic further. The game allows players to collect a diverse range of unique fish across various destinations in the Solar System, which can be exchanged for legendary loot and other valuable items.

As the 21st season of Destiny 2 and the game's second season of 2023, Season of the Deep offers an array of fresh adventures and activities for players to explore. With the return of the moon Titan to Saturn's orbit, fans can now dive into the depths of the moon's methane seas to acquire new Taken-themed seasonal weapons and armor sets. Additionally, alongside Salvage and Deep Dive activities, the latest season also introduces a set of seasonal story missions and the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon, each offering their distinct rewards.

The fishing mechanic in Destiny 2 offers a more relaxed experience and the potential for good loot. However, fans have suggested improvements to make the experience more consistent. In particular, the Focused Fishing perk, which fills up as players reel in fish of legendary or exotic rarity, could benefit from changes. Currently, the perk can be difficult to fully take advantage of when fishing alone, as it requires multiple players to fill it up. To address this, players have suggested that uncommon and rare fish should also contribute towards filling the bar, increasing the likelihood of catching rarer fish for solo players.

Despite the potential rewards, players have expressed frustration with the current state of the fishing mechanic. One of the biggest issues is that each pond disappears when a nearby public event starts, forcing players to put down their fishing rods and causing the Focused Fishing bar to reset. This limits the amount of time that players have to catch rare fish and can be frustrating for those who want to fully enjoy the fishing experience.

Despite some bugs affecting particular exotics, finishers, and the latest dungeon activity in Destiny 2, Season 21 has brought a plethora of fresh content, giving players even more to anticipate as the season unfolds. The game is accessible on various platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
