Destiny 2 enthusiasts have been expressing their disappointment with the recent nerfing of the Neomuna red border weapon drop rate, which has left them struggling to obtain these coveted weapons. This has only added to the community's frustration, as they were already finding it difficult to acquire these weapons on Neomuna, an area that was launched with the Lightfall DLC.
Bungie had introduced the weapon crafting system in Destiny 2 with the Witch Queen DLC, which has undergone several tweaks since its inception. This has made the process of obtaining weapon patterns a little easier and much more rewarding. However, the red border weapon drop rate is still determined by RNG, which can be frustrating and is the main cause of the players' grievances. With the already low drop rate of red border weapons on Neomuna, players are arguing that further nerfing it was unnecessary and will discourage players from trying to obtain them altogether.
A Reddit user, PrettyFlyForAReply, expressed their dissatisfaction with the drop rate of Neomuna weapons in a post on the DTG subreddit. They claimed that the drop rate was not high and that players had to target-farm the golden patrols to get the red borders, which still required a ridiculous amount of patrols and rank-ups. Additionally, they pointed out that the whole idea behind the nerf made no sense since players are perpetually level-capped on Neomuna in Destiny 2, which makes completing Public Events and Heroic patrols difficult. Even if players managed to complete these activities, there is no guarantee that they would receive the weapon they were looking for. PrettyFlyForAReply also mentioned that this didn't make sense from a business perspective since players would stop visiting Neomuna altogether, which wouldn't be beneficial for Bungie. Several other players also shared their experience with the Neomuna weapon drop rates in the comments. User GameSpawn agreed with the original post and revealed that they hardly got any red border drops from all the Heroic Patrols they finished, and the only ones they received were from the Lightfall campaign. Another user mentioned that they have only unlocked three weapon patterns so far, most of which were acquired from completing Nimbus Bounties, despite being above Season Pass rank 320 in Destiny 2 Season of Defiance.
Players have expressed their discontent with Bungie's decision to implement this nerf, despite the developer's track record for actively listening to community feedback. It remains to be seen whether Bungie will take heed of this negative response and make further changes to the game. Destiny 2 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
