After defeating the Phalanx Echo in the Prophecy dungeon, Destiny 2 players can progress to the next part. Initially, they need to traverse through a wasteland and locate Taken Blights that need to be destroyed. Once the blights are eliminated, players must interact with the floating Toland ball in order to uncover the next set of blights. This process is repeated until the door to the second encounter opens.
Unlike the boss encounter in the first part, the second encounter of Prophecy in Destiny 2 revolves around a puzzle. Fortunately, puzzles in dungeons are more forgiving compared to those in raids. The Cube encounter may be disorienting and chaotic, but here is a guide on how to successfully complete it.
How to Complete the Cube Encounter
Before starting this encounter, players should ensure they have the appropriate weapons for the task. Bring a weapon that excels at eliminating additional enemies. It is highly beneficial to have a long-range option such as a Linear Fusion Rifle. Additionally, consider using Jotunn, as it provides excellent range.
The objective of this encounter is to locate the Toland ball within the room. It can be found on one of the four walls or at the top of the central cube. Take note of the energy pillar beneath the Toland ball. If the pillar is dark, players must collect Dark Motes from the spawning Taken Knights. If the pillar is light, players should gather Light Motes instead. As before, pay attention to the visual effects in the corners of the screen when standing in illuminated or shadowed areas of the arena. A white effect indicates that Light Motes will drop from a Taken Knight, while a black effect means that Dark Motes will drop.
If the Toland ball is positioned at the top of the cube, players have the opportunity to dunk on any of the pillars. During this situation, players can decide whether they want to go for the Light or Dark option.
Throughout the encounter, there will be spawns of Taken Acolytes and Hobgoblins. It is important to swiftly eliminate the Hobgoblins, as they pose a significant threat to the player carrying all the motes. Utilizing long-range weapons will be beneficial in handling this task. Additionally, it is crucial to eliminate all the Acolytes as they can easily overwhelm players in Destiny 2.
After dunking motes into the designated spot indicated by the Toland ball, players should check for any needed ammunition before proceeding to the center of the room where the circle is located. This action will trigger a teleportation to a different version of the room. Successful dunking on the correct color of motes will be accompanied by a sound effect and a message appearing in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
Moving from one side of the room to the other using the teleportation pad can cause disorientation, so players should take a moment to regain their bearings and scan the area for the presence of the Toland ball.
Afterwards, players must repeat this procedure multiple times. Eventually, two mini-bosses of the Taken will emerge. Upon their defeat, players will have successfully accomplished the Cube challenge and will receive exclusive Nine-themed rewards. Destiny 2 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
