Destiny 2 enthusiasts are always coming up with new and innovative ways to outsmart Bungie's bosses and other challenging enemies. The latest tactic involves a specific Exotic Grenade Launcher in the recently released dungeon, Ghosts of the Deep. This strategy allows players to easily defeat their opponents, regardless of whether they are playing on Master difficulty or Normal mode. Not only is the cheese a great way to obtain top-tier armor and weapons, but it also requires minimal effort, with players only needing to focus on consistently firing one weapon. Additionally, ammo shortages and team wipes are not a concern, making this tactic the best bet for a successful run through Ghosts of the Deep.

Bring A Buddy

To execute this Destiny 2 cheese, players must team up with a fellow Guardian. The reason behind this is that in order to trigger the damage cheese, players need to die. This will slowly chip away at the boss's health until it is eliminated.

By having another Guardian on board, players do not need to worry about wiping out as they can easily be revived to continue dealing damage. It should be noted that solo players cannot perform this cheese in Ghosts of the Deep, making it crucial to find a partner, clan member, or even a Destiny 2 LFG player who is willing to collaborate on this dungeon.

The Witherhoard

To successfully execute the cheese, players only require the Witherhoard Exotic Grenade Launcher. This weapon can be obtained from the Monument to Lost Lights vendor, situated in the Tower's Vault area. It falls under the Shadowkeep Exotics category and entails a price of 1 Exotic Cipher, 100,000 Glimmer, 150 Legendary Shards, and 1 Ascendant Shard.

With the Witherhoard in hand, players need not concern themselves with acquiring the Catalyst. Instead, they can focus on the weapon's Exotic Perks, which cause enemies to suffer damage over time, courtesy of the Taken Blight projectiles that the Grenade Launcher unleashes upon impact.

However, players can speed up the damage phases by bringing in a Solar Warlock or a Void Titan, who can extend the amount of damage dealt. Warlocks can use Empowering Rift or Well of Radiance, while Void Titans can unleash a Ward of Dawn for Weapons of Light, both of which will increase damage output.

Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun, First Boss

To begin the boss cheese against Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun, players just need to reach the second encounter after completing the first encounter to Break the Ritual. It is recommended that players have the Witherhoard ready for this encounter. After killing the 4 praying Acolytes to summon Ecthar to the surface, players can shoot him with the Witherhoard and then die. Once revived, the damage that was previously showing as "Immune" will now register as damage numbers. Players can repeat the process of applying Witherhoard damage until the boss is defeated, making this strategy accessible even without the best Raid Exotics.

During the fight with Ecthar, players should be prepared for the appearance of ads and a formidable opponent. Clearing out Acolytes and equipping damage-resistant mods will help players withstand Ecthar's attacks. It's important to note that players should not eliminate all three Blistered Knights, as this will cause Ecthar to retreat and wait for the non-cheese damage phase, wasting precious time.

Ecthar has a significant amount of health, but using the Witherhoard method in Ghosts of the Deep can effectively bring him down. Players should ensure that they destroy the Hive ghost shell immediately after Ecthar is defeated to prevent his possible respawn. Although players will face a barrage of ads while trying to land consistent Witherhoard shots, this method is the safest way to reach the DPS phase for Ecthar.

Simmumah Ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer, Second Boss

To defeat the final boss of Ghosts of the Deep, players must face a Lucent Necromancer who seeks to resurrect the Taken King, Oryx. The easiest way to defeat Simmumah is by using the Witherhoard cheese tactic. Players can simply shoot the wizard with the Witherhoard and avoid using a Finisher on Oryx's Hive ghost shell, which will trigger the boss room and spawn an army of ads and arc attacks from Simmumah.

It's important to apply the same tactic used against Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun, to defeat the final boss. Players should shoot Simmumah with the Witherhoard and then intentionally die so they can continue to deal damage with the Witherhoard. Since the boss fight hasn't technically started, players won't see a health bar, but they can use the Exotic Sniper Rifle D.A.R.C.I. to check the boss's health. Aiming the weapon at an enemy will show its health and other critical information through the scope.

Defeating Simmumah Ur-Nokru using the Witherhoard cheese strategy can take up to 20 minutes, depending on players' weapon buffs acquired through co-op play with Ward of Dawn and Warlock Rifts or Well of Radiance. However, it is a reliable and secure method to obtain Master or Normal Ghosts of the Deep dungeon loot. It is crucial to locate and destroy the Hive Ghost shell of this wizard boss after it falls to the Witherhoard's fate; otherwise, the boss will respawn, resulting in wasted time and potential failure.

Best Farming Spot

Players have the opportunity to continuously farm the third and final encounter. While taking down Simmumah Ur-Nokru with the Witherhoard can be time-consuming and requires completing the ritual and defeating three Lucent Hive Light Bearers, utilizing the cheese method may prove to be more efficient as there is no risk of a wipe. Don't forget to use during gameplay.

Upon defeating Simmumah Ur-Nokru, players can open the chest located at Oryx's heart, which will yield two legendary items. Master Difficulty runs may also offer additional rewards such as Legendary Shards or Enhancement Prisms. The real highlight, however, is the chance to obtain a coveted God Roll weapon from Ghosts of the Deep or a piece of Artifice Armor. Completing this Witherhoard cheese on Master Difficulty also brings players one step closer to earning the Ghoul title Triumph, with the first completion granting the Sovereign Triumph and the Recalcitrant Host Sparrow. Additionally, players have the chance to increase their Exotic drop rate for The Navigator, a new Exotic Trace Rifle.

By using the Ghosts of the Deep Witherhoard cheese, players can repeatedly farm this encounter and obtain 2 valuable loot pieces within every 20 minutes, dealing consistent damage. It's important to take advantage of this strategy before Bungie patches it. Players can maximize their character's potential by acquiring as much Artifice Armor as possible. This armor usually comes with high stat rolls, allowing players to distribute 3 levels into any stat without sacrificing a mod level. It's recommended to claim as much Artifice Armor as possible to ensure Triple-100 stats across the best mods available.
