In Destiny 2's Season 22, weapon crafting has been revamped to offer players a more meaningful and rewarding experience. Alongside improvements to Exotic weapons and general weapon archetypes, these changes significantly impact the feel of certain weapons in the game.

Introduced in The Witch Queen expansion, weapon crafting allows Guardians to build their own weapons from scratch. This process gives players the ability to choose the perks for their weapon and upgrade them to Enhanced versions as they progress. However, before crafting a weapon, players must first obtain red-bordered "Deepsight" versions of the desired weapon to unlock its pattern. To initiate the crafting process, players can access The Relic in The Enclave, which is located within Savathûn's Throne World.

Season 22 Changes to Crafted Weapon Progression

Beginning with Season 22, the inclusion of Resonant and Harmonic Alloys in the crafting process will be phased out. Similar to previous in-game currencies that have been removed, players will have the opportunity to exchange their remaining stock of these alloys to Rahool in the Tower in exchange for Glimmer. Furthermore, dismantling weapons will no longer grant players these resources, and they will not be necessary for any future crafting upgrades. In due course, both Resonant and Harmonic Alloys will completely vanish from the game.

Bungie has acknowledged certain issues with the leveling process for crafted weapons. The time-consuming nature of leveling up these weapons, particularly those with limited ammo, has led many players to repeatedly engage in content with a high number of enemies. Rather than impose restrictions on this playstyle, Bungie is now enhancing alternative paths to weapon progression. Moreover, Season 22 introduces a completely new approach to leveling weapons as an option for players to effectively manage the ever-expanding collection of craftable weapons.

Improved progression has been implemented for weapon advancement, achieved through both activity completions and PvP kills. Notably, PvP kills offer even greater progression as they occur less frequently compared to PvE kills.

Furthermore, expect enhanced progression across various activities such as Crucible, Trials of Osiris, Dares of Eternity, Wellspring, Gambit, and even for Platinum score completions of Legend and Master Solo Lost Sectors.

Improved Rollover Progression: Due to high demand from the community, any surplus progression will now be retained and carried over to the next level of the weapon. This modification results in a more efficient process of leveling up weapons in all activities.

Enhanced Weapon Leveling using Currency: Crafted and enhanced weapons will now feature an additional slot, enabling players to utilize Glimmer and Enhancement Cores directly to boost the weapon's level. Please note that while this boost has no maximum limit, the costs will escalate as the weapon's level progresses.

Season 22 Changes to Neomuna Crafted Weapons

Starting in Season 22, acquiring patterns for Neomuna weapons will become less troublesome due to some adjustments. By successfully completing the score challenge in the weekly Neomuna pinnacle story mission, players will now be guaranteed a Neomuna weapon pattern every reset.

The Neomuna vendor engram upgrade will enhance the drop rates for Deepsight Neomuna weapons, and it will apply retroactively to players who have already obtained this upgrade.

Similarly, the Throne World vendor engram upgrade will have a positive effect on the drop chances of Throne World Deepsight weapons.

The bug in the Deepsight drop system has been resolved. Previously, as players neared the completion of a pattern set, the drop rate of red-bordered items would decrease.

Destiny 2 can be played on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
