Honkai: Star Rail has officially detailed the lineup of events set to run alongside the launch of the game's Version 1.6 update, featuring new characters and free rewards. With the airing of the Version 1.6 Special Program late last week, fans have already been given a taste of what to expect from the HoYoverse RPG's next update. Version 1.6 will introduce three new characters to the roster, with Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio coming as new five-star units and Xueyi as a four-star character. Now, fans are getting a better idea of how the update's first half will play out.

Early teasers for the next patch have already given Honkai: Star Rail players plenty of reasons to be excited about the update. Honkai: Star Rail is set to add a new permanent game mode with 'Pure Fiction,' pitting players against an endless wave of enemies. The update will also feature multiple gifts for players, with four-star unit Lynx as a reward for Pure Fiction and new five-star character Dr. Ratio as a gift to celebrate Honkai: Star Rail winning multiple end-of-year awards. Now, HoYoverse is gearing up for a big update to come for Star Rail.

Honkai: Star Rail's newly released 'Event Overview' showcases the plethora of events planned to arrive with the game's Version 1.6 update. The first half of Version 1.6 will add two new permanent game modes, launching with new Simulated Universe game mode 'Gold and Gears' and debuting the previously mentioned 'Pure Fiction' on January 8. The update's first half also includes several other minor events, including 'Critter Pick' focused around Ruan Mei and a new 'Planar Fissure' event with increased Planar Ornament drop rates.

Alongside the plethora of events, Honkai: Star Rail's newest update is set to feature four limited gacha banners with both new and returning banners. New character Ruan Mei and Version 1.1 five-star character Blade will star as the first half's featured characters, with their signature Light Cones, 'Brilliant Fixation' and 'Bygone Reminiscence,' available as well. Version 1.6 will also introduce the newest addition to the game's Trailblaze Mission, the main story of Honkai: Star Rail. Version 1.6 is currently scheduled to launch on December 27.

While HoYoverse gears up for Version 1.6's launch, the Special Program also heavily teased Honkai: Star Rail's biggest update yet. The Version 2.0 update is expected to follow the conclusion of Version 1.6, adding the first new playable world following the game's launch with Penacony. HoYoverse has already teased multiple characters planned to be added to the game following the Penacony update, including Version 2.0 characters Misha and Sparkle among others. Version 1.6 looks to end Honkai: Star Rail's first update cycle with a bang before sending players off to Penacony.
