Honkai: Star Rail - Unleashing 6 Epic Upgrades The Memory Of Chaos Craves

Honkai: Star Rail - Unleashing 6 Epic Upgrades The Memory Of Chaos Craves

Enhancing the endgame challenge zone, Memory of Chaos, in Honkai Star Rail is crucial This article presents six improvements that can make it even more engaging and thrilling for players

The Memory of Chaos and, to some extent, the Forgotten Hall preceding it, are two significant components of Honkai: Star Rail's current endgame content, at least for now.

While the Forgotten Hall serves as a challenging opportunity for players to obtain additional Stellar Jades and fine-tune their party setups, the Memory of Chaos presents a formidable obstacle for them to overcome. However, although the idea of having brutally tough challenges in Honkai: Star Rail's endgame is appealing considering the overall simplicity of the game, there are several potential improvements that the developers at Hoyoverse could make to enhance the enjoyment of the experience without compromising the level of difficulty.

6 A Quick-Restart Option

If Hoyoverse plans on creating challenge gauntlets like the Forgotten Hall and the Memory of Chaos, where players are expected to attempt them multiple times and possibly utilize guides, it would greatly improve the experience to include a convenient restart option.

In the Memory of Chaos, the outcome of a three-star or two-star rating, or even the distinction between barely passing or a complete party wipe, often comes down to a single mistake. In such instances, it would be highly beneficial for players to have the ability to quickly pause, click retry, and instantly return to the beginning of the gauntlet with all settings unchanged.

5 Introduce One Or More Trial Characters Alongside Memory Turbulence

Trial characters, for those unfamiliar, are playable characters that function similarly to Support Characters in areas like the Calyx portals. The key distinction is that trial characters are pre-built by Hoyoverse.

These characters are typically used for players to test out certain characters in the current or upcoming Warp Banner, as well as familiarize them with specific gameplay mechanics. However, if the dev team incorporated Trial Characters into the Memory of Chaos, it could provide free-to-play challengers with more opportunities and introduce the 'intended' strategy of using the Memory Turbulence modifier.

4 Let Players Use Their Friend's Characters As Support

Why not allow players to use Support Characters in the Forgotten Hall or Memory of Chaos? It would enable players to utilize their friends' characters and make overcoming these challenges a collaborative community effort. It would also increase the value of their own characters when they are used. By implementing this feature, players would be more motivated to add friends, strategically choose the character they send out as support, and create stronger bonds with real-life friends who also play the game through Star Rail. While this may affect the difficulty, Hoyoverse could introduce a negative cost for hiring Supports in MoC, such as Credits, fewer turns, or other negative modifiers.

3 Less Resource-Based & More Skill-Based

At the time of writing, Luocha and his banner have just been released, which means the game is currently at Version 1.2. However, it hasn't been available for a long enough period for most casual players to reach the Memory of Chaos, let alone clear it. On the other hand, dedicated players who have invested significantly in the game, commonly referred to as "whales" among mobile game players, can clear the Memory of Chaos with relative ease. The difference in power between a level 70 character with decent Relics and Eidolon 0, and a level 80 character with maxed-out Traces, top Eidolons, and perfect Relics is immense, particularly in the MoC.

If Hoyoverse were to rework the Memory of Chaos, turning it into puzzle-like battles rather than a simple test of damage output or character level, it would likely enhance the overall experience. The Memory Turbulence somewhat achieves this concept, and the recently introduced Stellar Flare event appears to be a variation of this idea.

2 Letting People Use Consumables

Familiarity with Hoyoverse's highly popular game, Genshin Impact, may lead players to expect a similar experience in HSR concerning the usefulness of Consumables. However, despite the availability of various crafted or found Consumables, there are limited opportunities to utilize them effectively or remember their significance. Interestingly, the desirable locations to employ these Consumables, such as the Forgotten Hall, strictly prohibit their use. If Hoyoverse were to reconsider this restriction, it would transform Consumables into valuable resources and the Memory of Chaos into an intriguing puzzle to solve, rather than a frustrating obstacle.

1 Switching Party Order In-Between Fights

This fix is likely to be integrated into the Hoyoverse system at some point because it is a simple change. Currently, in the Memory of Chaos, players are unable to access the Team Setup once they have dived into a Memory and loaded into the area where their targets are directly ahead of them.

If players accidentally place their Tank in slot 3 and their DPS in slot 1, they will need to press Escape, click Return, and re-enter the Memory in order to rearrange their characters. This process is not very user-friendly. While it may seem excessive to include this change just to save a few clicks, there are also situations where players would prefer a specific Team order for one fight in a Memory, while a different order would be more beneficial for the second fight.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices with a PS5 version releasing in Q4 2023.
