Kafka, featured in Honkai: Star Rail, boasts an impressive 5-star rating and harbors an array of captivating abilities. This versatile character excels in multiple areas, excelling not only in swift follow-up strikes but also in unleashing devastating area-of-effect surges. Additionally, Kafka possesses the capability to inflict agonizing damage over time, showcasing her adaptability and versatility as a well-rounded DPS character.
Honkai: Star Rail Kafka Build
With her versatility in dealing various types of damage, Honkai: Star Rail's character, Kafka, offers players the freedom to experiment with different character builds. Although she excels as a Nihility character, focusing on damage over time (DoT) and debuffs, Kafka also possesses the ability to deal explosive damage through her attacks and passive effects in her Talent tree. The following build is designed to fully utilize Kafka's core identity as a potent DoT enabler, ensuring that every member of the party can truly shine.
Kafka, a Lightning Nihility character, possesses a remarkable skill to initiate Damage over Time (DoT) effects such as Bleeding, Shock, and Wind Shear. Although she may not excel at applying DoTs independently, when paired with formidable allies like Sampo, Serval, or Luka, Kafka becomes an unstoppable force, wreaking havoc upon any target.
Core Stat Priorities: SPD, ATK%, Break Effect, CRIT, Effect Hit Rate
Planar Ornament Stats: Lightning DMG, ATK%
Top Relic Sets: Sizzling Thunder/Wild Wheat or Sizzling Thunder/Hackerspace accompanied by Space Sealing Station.
Finest Light Cones: Patience is All You Need (5-Star), In The Name of The World (5-Star), and Fermata (4-Star).
Important Note: It is crucial for Kafka to prioritize building SPD in order to trigger DoTs more frequently. However, she only requires approximately 28% Effect Hit Rate to ensure Shock effects are activated against enemies with 40% Effect RES.
Players can forego heavily stacking ATK and Crit stats for Kafka, as a significant portion of her damage will come from DoT effects inflicted by the entire team. Nonetheless, it is advisable to aim for an ATK stat of around 2000 to ensure her personal attacks have a notable impact.
Both 5-star Nihility Light Cones are powerful in Kafka's hands, but for players who have had less luck with their gacha rolls, opting for Fermata is the better choice. Fermata greatly enhances her damage against targets that are affected by Shock or Wind Shear, and it is also relatively accessible through the Forgotten Hall shop or by defeating bosses.
Kafka Trace Leveling Order
The Trace order for Kafka distinguishes her from other characters as her primary methods of delivering Shock are through her Ultimate and Talent abilities. Nevertheless, the fundamental concept remains the same: prioritize utilizing her most impactful abilities before attending to the rest.

For players who want to use Kafka exclusively to enable DoT teams, it's recommended to focus on leveling her Skill first. This is because her Skill is responsible for triggering DoTs. Kafka's Talent and Ultimate are the main sources of Shock. By using Twilight Trill or another party member's basic attack, players can still activate the Shock effects that Kafka applies herself.
Unlocking the Torture ascension passive should be a priority, as it allows Kafka to trigger all DoT effects, not just Shock. It is recommended to purchase this Trace as soon as possible, and unlock the other passives whenever there are enough resources available.
Kafka can deal effective damage on her own, but she synergizes best with a partner who can consistently apply Damage over Time (DoT) effects.
Honkai: Star Rail was made available on April 26th, 2023, for both PC and mobile platforms. The game is currently being developed for PS4 and PS5 as well.
