Game-Changing: Why Destiny 2 Must Embrace Permanent Season 22 Artifact Perks

Destiny 2's Season of the Witch introduces game-changing Artifact Perks that could revolutionize the meta builds, providing an exciting shake-up and expanding the limited variety Discover the potential of Elemental Orb Builds and explore the need for increased competition in Armor Charge Builds

The Seasonal Artifact in Destiny 2's Season of the Witch introduces a fresh rotation of anti-Champion weapon perks, along with unique and powerful perks that temporarily shake up the gameplay. There is significant potential to expand upon the perks offered by the Seasonal Artifact in Season of the Witch, and it is hoped that these perks will remain available for a sufficient amount of time to fully realize their capabilities. The increased availability of buildcrafting tools could provide a compelling opportunity to challenge the current meta builds in Destiny 2.

The Seasonal Artifact perks in Season 22 are mostly centered around Elemental Orbs, which have proven to be game-changing as a vast majority of players are incorporating them into their existing builds. With some fine-tuning, Elemental Orbs could potentially become the new dominant strategy in Destiny 2. However, this can only happen if they continue to be available after the current in-game Season concludes.

How Elemental Orb Builds Compare to Other Builds in Destiny 2

The utilization of Elemental Orbs in Destiny 2 fosters cooperation in a way that few other builds have achieved thus far. The remarkable aspect is that players can harness Elemental Orbs regardless of whether they have the associated perks equipped. With minimal or no investment, players can effectively wield Elemental Orbs generated by teammates, inflicting significant damage and applying unique debuffs attributed to the Void, Solar, Arc, and Strand Subclasses. Furthermore, when players equip the relevant perks, Elemental orbs can enhance ability cooldowns, augment Elemental weapon damage, and increase the drop rate of ammunition.

Destiny 2’s Armor Charge Builds Need More Competition

powerful as they already are, there’s still plenty of room to develop Elemental Orb perks into builds that are worthy of using in endgame content like Destiny 2’s Raids and Dungeons. A few examples of how Elemental Orbs can be improved upon are to allow them to provide Super energy cooldowns, damage reductions, and the ability to heal players. Additionally, adding Stasis Elemental damage and debuffs to Elemental Orbs could introduce a variety of untapped potential.

Since the release of the Lightfall expansion, the availability of viable armor mods in Destiny 2 has significantly decreased compared to past Seasons and expansions. With the game's difficulty increasing in the latest content and the removal of some older armor mods, a large portion of the community has been forced to rely on a limited selection of buildcrafting tools. Among these tools, Armor Charge mods have emerged as the new meta in Destiny 2.

Armor Charge builds are capable of fulfilling almost all the functions of Elemental Orb builds and more. They offer the added advantage of passive activation and defensive buffs. However, Elemental Orb builds still have their strengths over Armor Charge builds. They provide exclusive ranged attacks and can potentially be utilized by players who haven't invested in the build. Though it would be desirable to see Elemental Orb perks become more intricate, they are already a strong contender in the current meta, if only they were permanently available.

With players being able to equip Seasonal Artifact perks alongside their existing builds, any new buildcrafting tools in Destiny 2 will likely face strong competition. The effectiveness of these tools will depend on how they can be incorporated into a player's loadout. If Seasonal Artifact perks were to be made into permanent mods, some rebalancing might be necessary to ensure they are viable options for builds. This is particularly relevant for Elemental Orb builds, which have room for improvement.

While it is not mandatory for every new buildcrafting tool in Destiny 2 to become the new meta, it would be a missed opportunity to not address the shortcomings of Elemental Orb builds compared to other builds. Striking the right balance when making Seasonal Artifact perks permanently available may present a challenge. However, it also presents an ideal opportunity to introduce worthwhile alternatives to the current meta.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
