Highlights

Bungie announced nerfs to two specific armor pieces in the midseason update of Destiny 2 to address their difficulty to counter effectively in PvP.

The next midseason update, labeled as update 7.2.5, is set to introduce changes to the exotic armor pieces Antaeus Wards and Young Ahamkara's Spine. These adjustments aim to enhance their balance and counterability specifically in the realm of Destiny 2 PvP. Furthermore, Bungie has extensive plans to fine-tune various weapon archetypes, such as implementing a recoil nerf for SMGs and introducing other modifications to Auto Rifles as a whole.

During its weekly community update, Bungie announced that two specific armor pieces in Destiny 2 will be receiving a nerf in the upcoming midseason update. These armor pieces have been deemed too difficult to counter effectively. Balancing is a fundamental aspect of Destiny 2, and Bungie regularly introduces tweaks and adjustments through seasonal and midseason updates. However, maintaining balance becomes challenging given the extended timeframe since Destiny 2's release and the continuous introduction of new weapons and gear.

One notable update was introduced during the Season of the Witch, which launched in late August. This update brought numerous changes to the game's weapon archetypes, with many being modified or completely overhauled. Exotic armor and weapons were also affected by these changes. Additionally, weapon crafting received significant improvements, providing players with more options to earn progress levels without solely relying on repetitive completion of the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish raid.

Also referred to as update 7.2.5, the midseason update is set to introduce several modifications to armor and weapons, potentially reshaping the current meta in various ways. Alongside the alterations to weapon archetypes, Bungie has disclosed its intention to address the overpowering presence of Antaeus Wards and Young Ahamkara's Spine exotic armor within Destiny 2 PvP, as countering these two items has proven to be excessively challenging.

For the Titan's Antaeus Wards leg armor, the activation of Reflective Vents will now be conditioned upon the player having a full class ability charge available. In addition, the enhanced sliding capability will no longer be granted. Upon deactivation, the class ability energy will be consumed proportionally to the damage that was effectively reflected. This adjustment has been implemented by Bungie primarily due to the perceived imbalance caused by the previously low cost of the armor's benefits, which made it excessively difficult for opposing players to counter. Consequently, this modification emphasizes the necessity for players to carefully assess and strategize their engagements, considering the most opportune moments to utilize the armor's capabilities.

The Hunter's Young Ahamkara's Spine gauntlets will now have Tripmine Grenades with reduced bonus health (from 100 to 70) and will no longer have the 50% bonus damage resistance. Grenade energy will only be provided on ability kills rather than damage. This change aligns the bonus grenade energy with other Solar exotics like Athrys’s Embrace and Caliban’s Hand, making it easier to counter enhanced tripmine grenades with lower durability.

As for quality of life updates, Bungie plans to make a major change in The Final Shape by completely removing the Legendary Shards currency from Destiny 2. While there are still unanswered questions about how this will affect the way players purchase new items from vendors, Bungie has started to reveal some of its plans. Now, weapon focusing will only cost glimmer and engrams.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
